“Wonderful family hotel in delightful historic quartier”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We felt as though we were special guests in a gracious historic home. Panayiota, and her son Akis, take very seriously the description of their delightful boutique establishment as a “family hotel”. It doesn’t feel like a hotel at all. It feels like your home, where a member of the family who cares about your every need and want is always there - in the background. They are warm and gentle people. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Their wish for you to enjoy your stay is genuine.

Probably, Aetoma was originally a wealthy merchant’s city residence; and was later turned into a hotel of 5 spacious and individual rooms plus a grand central reception, sitting and dining area. Aetoma is ideally located in the charming historic quartier of Nafplion, beside a relatively quiet old church square, yet a stone’s throw from all the life and attractions of the city. There were 4 of us, and we were fortunate to have booked the front 2 rooms. They have adjoining balconies, and face onto the square. Panayiota and Akis would bring afternoon tea and home-made cake to our balconies. We’d sit outside in the warm breeze and watch the locals go about their lives, until we were revived and ready to explore more of Nafplion.

Nafplion is a most interesting, lively small city. Stay 3 - 5 days; there is plenty to see and do both within the city and on day tours to ancient ruins, the beaches and wineries. And stay at Aetoma Family Hotel. We wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: We loved the balconies of the two front rooms that faced the square. One is slightly larger, and mor...

Wonderful family run property. Akis and his mother cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. They are wonderful people who will make you feel like a member of the family. Great breakfasts and personalized tourist information. Ask any question and they will try to help. Read all the other great reviews. Make this your first booking choice.

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the top floor with the beautiful balcony and views.

This is a small hotel that is centrally located in Nafplio. We couldn't find fault with the room, with the genuine warmth and hospitality of the owner and her son. Maps, touring suggestions, where to eat, where to park, how best to get from A to B. This is the sort of small family hotel where you are welcomed as a member of the extended family - small courtesies and kindness appeared quite spontaneously at unexpected moments. There were many examples that meant a lot to us and would loose much impact if I attempted to describe them.

The room was comfortable, the breakfasts generous and delicious, the hospitality - exceptional. The location - central and 5 minutes to just about everywhere in town.

Nafplio itself is a real gem, a charming small Greek town that we used as our base to explore the northern Peloponnese.

We stayed for 4 days and wished we had moved nights from Athens to Nafplio.

We can wholeheartedly recommend Nafplio as a base and wholeheartedly recommend the Aetoma. It was one of those places that create memories of a wonderful few weeks spent in Greece.

We stayed at the Aetoma Hotel at the end of August 2012 and had an absolutely fantastic stay which we will remember for a long time. We arrived in Nafplio quite late in the evening. We didn't know the city at all and to our (lovely) surprise the owner's son Akis came and met us at the coach stop to escort us to the hotel himself (just minutes walk away). This was such a thoughtful personal touch which was so welcome at the end of a tiring trip.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the owner, Panayiota, with a very warm welcome and made to feel completely at home. The room was amazing. It was beautifully decorated and had a big bathroom with modern fittings and a great shower. The room also had a balcony which opened into the square. The hotel offers free wifi too.

The hotel is in a little square which is in the centre of the old town. It is just steps away from all of the shops and restaurants but very peaceful.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious and there was a lot of it! It was the best breakfast we have ever been served on holiday and again we were made to feel totally at home and nothing was too much trouble.

All in all the owners' generosity and personal service really made this hotel stand out. I would highly recommend it whether you are travelling in a couple, with friends or with family.

Small adorable boutique hotel run by a family in a lovely part of town. The mother is super and makes the greatest breakfast spread. The son was also very helpful and friendly. The town is nice and charming to visit. Recommend.

We booked this hotel thanks to the great reviews on trip advisor and were not disappointed!! It is family run and we were warmly greeted by the son who took us to our room, he advised us on restaurants and general information. The rooms are very tastefully furnished and the house is beautiful. Breakfast was brought to out room and was delicious and all homemade..... Jams, breads, cakes and eggs and bacon!! We even extended our stay by another night as we found it such a beautiful place and a truly relaxing experience staying here!!

Room Tip: If you pay a little extra and have the superior room breakfast can be served on the terrace over loo...
