“Second stay - not the last”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

We started our Greek holiday at the Pension Marianna having enjoyed our last stay there in 2012. It is, for all the right reasons, in all the guidebooks and what they said mirrors our experience. Great location, outstanding welcome, well appointed rooms and a view to die for when you enjoy a home made breakfast on the balcony. We drove from Athens and our flight was seriously delayed - causing us to arrive at the Marianna at around 2 a.m. I called from Athens to advise them. "No problem, we'll be here to help with the bags" and so they were. I doubt you'll get a warmer welcome anywhere in Greece and Nafplio is a great place to start any journey.
The breakfast features many home made dishes and is beautifully served. Book ahead as the place is in big demand BUT they don't sit on their laurels.

Room Tip: Rooms with a sea view cost more but are well worth it!

Stayed here 2 nights..smallish room with an amazing view. The hotel is a 5 minute walk down to the main square and pedestrian lanes where we had a couple of lovely dinners. Great breakfasts on their roof terrace and really friendly owners. We were delighted. There are different types and styles of rooms so I'd try and get one of the rooms with a balcony next time.

Follow the advice re parking - we were dubious at first but it was v convenient and perfectly safe.

We stayed here with our two children in a family room. We were pleased to find this included two separate bedrooms. Our boys loved their stone room with a gorgeous view of Palamidi Fortress. We also had a beautiful view overlooking the old town and the water. The staff were very friendly and the room was clean. It is perched up on a hill so be prepared to tackle a few stairs, but it is definitely worth it for the view and close proximity to the gorgeous town square. WiFi is a little patchy but given the thickness of the stone walls this is understandable. We loved our stay here and would gladly return.

Nafplio is one of my favorite towns in Greece and for years I have wanted to stay at the Marianna. In the past, I didn't plan far enough in advance, but this trip, I made sure that didn't happen. Make your reservations directly to the pension and skip the on-line booking services (which confused my reservation). The Marianna is a stunningly beautiful pension up on the hill overlooking Nafplio and directly under the Acronafplia Castle near the old fortress. It was a magical place to stay with tasteful and memorable rooms and great views. The breakfast was superb and the Zotos family could not have been more welcoming and hospitable. Finding it from the harbor parking was a bit tricky. And trust me, don't start carrying your luggage with you from there. Wait. Find the pensione and the three Zotos brothers will show you where to park near the hotel and actually help you with your luggage! Be advised that no matter from which direction you arrive, there are many many stairs and if you have a heart condition you might want to look for other accommodations at sea level nearer the harbor. That is my only cautionary bit of advice. I still dream of my four nights there and am looking forward to my next visit. It was the most special place I stayed while in Grece this year.

It was our first trip to Greece and Nafplio was the perfect base for touring all the great sites in the area- not least of which is Nafplio itself! Hotel Marianna proved to be an excellent choice and we stayed there for 3 nights. Marianna is reasonably priced, the breakfasts are wonderful, and the Zotos Brothers do everything possible to make your stay a pleasant one. I did have a little difficulty actually locating Marianna but I'll take the blame for that- the directions were adequate but the parking area is somewhat limited (though we had no difficulty on that score throughout our stay).

We spent four nights in Pension Marianna during an extended tour of the Peloponnese peninsula. This was easily our favorite among the Greek hotels we stayed in. The pension is a beautiful stone structure, somewhat complex in its layout, which adds interest. It sits on the side of a hill, with a stunning view of the sea from the breakfast terrace. The level of service was almost beyond belief. One of us needed to visit an emergency room, but the one in Nafplio was closed, so one of the brother owners (Panos) immediately insisted on driving us in his car to the hospital in the nearby town of Argos. Our room in the pension was of ample size and well appointed. It was a quick walk down to the town square (and a not-so-quick walk back). We confidently recommend this place for an enjoyable visit to Nafplio.

We were in Nafplio for 5 nights for a wedding and chose Hotel Marianna for our stay. From the moment we arrived to the minute we departed the Zotos family went out if their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They scurried about constantly and were so helpful in recommending restaurants, booking taxis and attending to our every need.

The breakfast is incredible too. I'm going to miss the homemade marmalade and Greek yogurt.

The hotel is located at the top of a hill which makes the views impressive to say the least. There are a lot of stairs. Probably somewhat difficult for someone that has a difficult time walkimg up and down stairs. we saw it as a benefit as it helped us work off some of those large late-night dinners.

I would return in a heartbeat if I'm in Nafplio again.
