We just finished six wonderful nights in Nafplio, staying at The Marianna. The city is an excellent base to explore the many interesting sites within driving distance, and the three Zotos Brothers -- Takis, Panos, and Petros -- are delightful, helpful men who work incredibly hard to make your stay enjoyable. They have a variety of different styles of rooms, each with their own particular character and charm, and all kept immaculately clean by their hard working staff. We stayed in a large room with a terrace view of Palamidi Fortress for a very reasonable rate. This is a great hotel and is deserving of your consideration.

Exceptionally helpful, particularly from the 2 of 3 brothers who speak excellent English. The third gets by. The facility is absolutely impeccable with minute attention to detail. The views, either from our room (I don't know how they are from others as it would seem like many probably don't have great views) or the terrace where you also have breakfast, are breathtaking. The rooms are small, but perfectly adequate with very nice bathrooms. Breakfast was outstanding; lots to eat with high quality and variety. It's tough to find (be sure to use their website, watch for the orange signs on the telephone poles, and know that when the website refers to an old hotel--whose name isn't evident when you get to it-- is really abandoned) but it has a superb location once you're established. With what the hotel had to offer along with the allure of Napflio (and how has this town stayed off the mainstream tourist map?), it was very difficult to leave. And having travelled the world for many years, I do.

The breakfast place has amazing views and it is just all in all a lovely hotel well run and in a nice area as it is next to the fortress and a short walk from a beach that the local swim in in the evenings.

The owner is friendly and helpful.
We definatly will be coming back here and woluld always stay here when in the area.

Nafplio was the pleasant surprise of our Greek trip. We decided to stay there just because it seemed conveninetly located for seeing nearby ancient sights. But it is wondful town with interesting architecture, pedestrian only areas in the center and a stunning walkway along the base of the cliff adjascent to the town. And it was our good fortune to choose the Hotel Marriana run by very nice and helpful brothers. The hotel is built into the side of a hill so it is not for those with bad knees. The rooms are brightly colored and the upper ones have great views of the city. A very nice breakfast is served on a terrace at the top of the hotel with a 360 degree view of the town, harbor, and fortifications on the nearby mountain.

Room Tip: rooms at the top have views of the city.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful Pension run by 3 brothers. The location is amazing - on the hill above the city (not a terrible walk either). In the welcome garden is a lemon tree that provided our lemonade for breakfast. It is enchanting - the rooms are all a bit different - some have wonderful views, terraces, balconies or enchanting interiors. The brothers are so welcoming - they ran around with a smile the entire time we were there - helping and managing. The view at breakfast is incredible - on the terrace overlooking the bay and the city. Breakfast opens at 7 so they can get local bread in from the bakery!

Our room was lovely with a stone wall and a very comfortable bed. We had a small terrace outside. Really not enough can be said about this wonderful gem. You must stay here when you come to this gorgeous town!

Room Tip: I was with a group and we pretty much checked out everyone's room - there was not a bad one in t...

I had the good fortune to be introduced to Nafplion through a forum on Trip Advisor and was also lucky enough to hear about this place from other Travelers.

This unique hotel is owned by three brothers. They have totally renovated a space that includes cave rooms as well as more typical hotel rooms. The cave rooms are amazing and I probably saw at least ten different rooms, each one unique. We stayed two nights in a typical room with a small balcony. It was located with several other rooms which all enjoyed an outside patio. The orange trees were just beginning to blossom so the smell was divine.

The brothers are attentive, generous and fantastic hosts. On our last day, one of the brothers helped us with our backpacks and actually walked us down to the bus stop. You would not be able to find better hosts. They were totally accommodating and showed us several room options before we made a choice.

They serve a lovely breakfast on the terrace. There are some hot and cold options with fresh lemon juice and fresh yogurt. There are hard boiled eggs and some Greek sweets. The terrace provides an amazing view of the old fortress, some castle remnants and a nice view of the city and waterfront.

There are some places you visit and you think, this was great but I probably won't be back. Not so with Pension Marianna. This is a place your soul will yearn for long after you've left.

Thanks for the great stay!

Room Tip: I like the rooms on the interior courtyard.

We booked at the Pension Marianna for 3 nights after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and other sites. On arrival, we already knew to park by the abandoned hotel, so we found the pension without too much difficulty. The grounds are lovely, but it is the sweeping view of Nafplio and the bay beyond which takes one's breath away. It is truly a slice of paradise. We had the view from our room, and at breakfast on the terrace. The breakfast is delicious, with home baked items such as cheese pie, excellent Greek yogurt, house made marmalades and fruit. On the other side of the hill on which the pension sits is a beach and a beautiful view of the sea. The brothers who run Marianna are warm and hospitable. We did have a brief problem with WiFi on the day we wanted to check in for our flight home, but we were allowed to use the hotel computer.

Room Tip: The modern rooms with doors facing the back are likely to have the best view.
