“Home-style Hospitality”

My husband and I go to Nafplio as often as possible, it being a special place for us (we were married in Nafplio six years ago). Our usual hotel was still closed for the winter, but the owners recommended Pension Eleni. We were greeted by Eleni herself, a very friendly proprietress. She led us upstairs to our room on the top floor of the tiny, traditional house, which is decorated throughout with lovely antiques. Our room was spacious, with a balcony, kitchen, and separate bedroom. Coffe, tea, melba toast and jam were provided as were fresh oranges for squeezing. Housekeeping was excellent. The room rate was very reasonable, and there was adequate free parking near the hotel, which was located near the center of the of the old town. I would definitely recommend this little hotel.

Wow. True to the photos and prior reviews, this place was just an incredible value: 50 Euros a night for a charming, lovingly appointed room with its own little fridge, coffee service, and balcony overlooking the water. The lady who runs it (Eleni?) greeted us with a kiss and warm clasp of the hand as though we were her long-lost relatives. Never before has a language barrier felt so utterly inconsequential. Eleni in a great part of the old town, tucked up away from the main tourist gauntlet, right by the free parking lot, and a short romantic walk to the beach. Best of all worlds. We even liked the 100 steps to the door -- good exercise! Only negative was the shower, which is in the classic European hand-held style and has a tendency to fill the bathroom with water when wielded by clumsy Americans.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms can't be beat!

God, we loved this place. It's run by an exceptionally nice lady who, despite not speaking any English, is obviously eager to make sure every guest has a great stay.

The hotel is up the hillside a bit which meant we could see the water from our balcony. It's located about 5 minute's walk from the central square. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Kettle, tv, a/c, wifi, comfortable bed, clean room/bathroom, fridge, and a table and chairs on the balcony. The hotel is right next to the big parking lot for the elevator that takes you up to the Acronafplia--it was so nice to come back after a long day out, relax in a freshly cleaned room for a bit, and then walk outside and take an elevator to watch the sun set every night before dinner.

Our room on the second floor was fantastic value at around 50 euro/nt. Recommend this place very highly.

We had a hell of a time finding this place, by the way. Google maps were useless. If you're having problems: as you're approaching the city, stay near the water. Drive along the water, passing all the parking lots on your right. The street will narrow as you enter the city. Pass the delicious gelato shop on your left and keep staying right, back toward the water. You'll see the Bourtzi island castle. Pass another parking lot on your right, go up the hill and you'll dead end in the big parking lot. Park here.

Pension Eleni was great. Beautiful room and everything worked perfectly (nice bed, wifi, kettle with tea and coffee, fridge, nice bathroom). The lady in charge whose name I think was Anna was so lovely and welcoming and clearly a lot of thought and love went into preparing and looking after the rooms. As soon as we arrived with the bags she went off to get us a bottle of cold water. Our room was beautiful (double with balcony and sea view), with a good sized balcony and a view down to the sea. The location was perfect and convenient to parking, waterfront and the main shopping/eating areas of Nafplion. We felt really at home in Eleni and the rates are very good. I believe the large room at the top is amazing - it looked like it anyhow from the outside. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone traveling to Nafplion. We had been considering staying somewhere more expensive in Nafplion and very glad we didn't. Eleni was charming!

Recommended for sure. We happened to drive by and walked in to price it. A great deal, and once we saw the view we were sold.

AC worked great, walking distance to everything, convenient parking.

We stayed in Eleni's top-floor suite (about $95) which we HIGHLY recommend. You get a queen bed plus a long, cushioned window seat that could sleep a couple kids. There is a seperate kitchenette with table and a fabulous balcony and 180 degree bay view. You are right below the cliff and the older fortress - it's all very picturesque and loaded with character.

The rooms are dowdy in a very comfortable way, just what we were looking for. This was the best of 5 places we stayed in Greece. The car park is just a block away. Don't be intimidated by the map - the car park is at the end of town, free of traffic, and always lots of space. Just follow the most major road in that diretion and you will run into it and the end of the road.

From the car park there is an elevator (!) up through the rock to the fort, and you can walk from there to the newer fortress or to the public beach on the other side of the rock.

We stayed here only one night which was a shame as the central town looked interesting. The pension was perfectly fine with a lovely Greek lady who was very friendly. The room was great with a balcony and view of Napflion below. There was a square nearby where you can park your car and its a short stroll down some steps to the centre of the town and the waterfront. My only problem was the shower water was lukewarm but it was so hot outside that was not a problem. The room also had air conditioning. There was no breakfast but there was a fridge and coffee making facilities.
