“Unexpected Exceptional Experience”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Luck was with us in the idyllic little seaside village of Kardamili, in the Mani region of southern Greece. We got the last room (through a last second cancellation) on the busiest day of the year in the Liakoto hotel on the seafront .
The receptionist Jenny, was delightful and helpful. She echoed our experience with every one of the staff, including the owner who anonymously mans the reception area as well. Billed as a two star hotel, we've enjoyed a five star experience. Little things le the complimentary toiletries are first class. Laundry was done in two hours. Poolside service exemplary. Rooms spacious. Libraries and reading areas in cool places. Faultless . And, this is the most beautiful little village in southern Greece.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front, overlooking the beach

We stayed here and had an apartment with a sea view. Good air conditioning. Well stocked library. Traditional greek decor. Pleasant pool and pool area. Wifi didn't extend to bedrooms and I found the sustainable Eco mattress very uncomfortable. However other nice touches in room including Korres bath products Kardamili is a beautiful village and the Liakoto is very central yet quiet as there is minimal passing traffic

We discovered Liakoto and Kardamili in 2008 and have been drawn back for the past 5 years. The place should come with a health warning "If you stay at Liakoto in Kardimili understand that you will almost certainly return - year after year after year". Having been busy in our working lives we love Kardamili as it forces you simply to stop. We go to enjoy the atmosphere, food, company and (genuinely) magical feeling generated by both Kardamili and Liakoto - it also allows us to refresh our romance!
Liakoto is a great base. Clean, spacious and well maintained. The owners care a great deal about the experience of all those who stay there - be they first timers or old lags like us. Within easy walking distance there are sensational restaurants where the food is simple but stunning.
My advice? You will not be disappointed in any way but, as I've said, be prepared to be seduced!

Room Tip: We have an apartment that allows us to breakfast with the mountains as a back drop and enjoy our sun...

We liked everything about this hotel.

The staff was warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful, and did everything possible to make our stay delightful and memorable. When we checked in, we were given all kinds of information not only about the facilities of the hotel, but about many activities available nearby, both in the village and further afield. When we brought a bottle of wine we had bought elsewhere onto the hotel terrace, we were given a small serving of nuts to enjoy with our wine.

The location was idyllic, with a panoramic view of the seaside in an utterly charming, ancient village with everything you could want within walking distance -- the Liakoto Hotel pool, tavernas, shops, the beach.

Room was very well equipped, comfortable and commodious.

We would definitely choose this hotel for a return stay!

Room Tip: I don't know if the rooms in the sister Liakoto Hotel are as nice and commodious as in the Annis...

Hotel hosts Ilya £ Geraldine gave us an excellent welcome, hotel is in a beautiful position. You get a stunning sea view or mountain view from all rooms. Lovely pool and close to so many charming Greek restarants. Can recommend the Liakoto

Room Tip: Ask for a front room for stunning sea views

We spent 7 nights at Liakoto in early May this year. Our hosts Geraldine and Ilia were superb, the epitome of Greek/British/Irish hospitality. The accommodation was top rate and spacious with glorious sea (Aegean) and mountain (Taygetos) views. The pool and hotel bar were spotless and the sea swimming fro the pier steps was a mere pebbles throw from the pool.

Everything that you need for a good restful or sporty holiday break - shops, restaurants, tavernas, churches, bike hire, a newsagent, car hire, local buses, small supermarkets, walking trails, nearby rock climbing and sea swimming - is available in the village of Kardamili. Kardamili also boasts its own charming museum in the old town by the fortified ruins and many living and recently deceased writers including Patrick Leigh Fermor lived there. While we were there we were invited to a book launch by a local expat English writer on a English journal of a Colenel Leake. The local food is fresh, seasonal and amazingly economical every restaurant meal we had seemed to cost 22 euros before wine.

For days when you do not want to go to a restaurant, self catering supplies are available from the Dimitera mini supermarket and the owner Helen will provide visitors with good conversation and local tips on any subject.

We have already booked to go back (our 4th time) for a month in the autumn - maybe a whole winter next year.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views and are spotless

Another fabulous experience at Liakoto - you cannot keep me away from that wonderful place! I returned this time to experience Springtime & a Greek Easter, and was met yet again with outstanding hospitality from Geraldine, Ilia and staff...seamlessly blended with a most idyllic setting in the full bloom of Spring with amazing colours, scents & the sweet singing of blue jays...I felt like I was in paradise!
It was the perfect temperature to lounge by the pool in the very well kept outside area. I never tire of watching the amazing sunset from the comfort of my own balcony off a spacious, very well equipped and spotlessly clean apartment.
The Easter candlelit procession that passed by the hotel was spectacular, and after attending the vigil in the village square at midnight I was happy to retire to a very comfortable bed and have sweet dreams about returning soon!
