Description: "Layla's has occupied the same site in Kardamili for over twenty years. Layla is very old now but is helped in the restaurant by her chldren and grandchildren. The restaurant is in a lovely 19th century building and has outside seating on a terrace just above the sea - the sunset view is incredible. The terrace is topped with vines and surrounded by red blooms. The food is traditional greek with an emphasis on local classics; potatos baked with rosemary, chicken baked with lemon and thyme, spiced sausage, fried courgettes etc. I have been going to Kardamili for years and this is the best place to eat".

Famous restaurant which lacks in service. You will be asked to go see the manu at a wall at the entrance after you have been seated. They do not make reservations since we were told that they try to have quicker turnarounds at the tables. Prices are very high for no reason. The food is as good as in many other restaurants. I see no reason for beeing ranked as number one in the area during august 2013

My wife and I had the worst experience ever in a restaurant at Lela's. Actually, we didn't eat at all. We sat down to eat but the way the staff treated the customers was so rude that we left. It was on the 23rd of August 2013 when we went to Lela’s for dinner. When we sat down, we overheard a customer, next to us, complaining (politely) to a waitress that he was waiting for 15 minutes and no one had come to take his order. The waitress seemed surprised and told him that this was normal(!) since the place was full and that he simply had to wait for as long as it takes. At that time, the man in charge of the restaurant having overheard the conversation stepped in and ordered the customer to leave, by adding “In Germany, you can’t wait 15 minutes?” (!!). The customer left without saying anything. He was so rude that we felt so embarrassed. I know that I should have said something but I didn’t want to start a quarrel.
We simply decided to leave and we told the waitress that we could not tolerate such a treatment. No matter how good the food is, the man in charge is so rude that it is a disgrace. You cannot treat any customer, much more the foreign tourists that visit your place in such a way.

The food at Lela's is not hugely different from the other tavernas but the location is lovely. The menu is displayed on blackboards so it is worth having a look to see if there is something you would like before sitting down at a table.
