“Traditional menu available - AND pizza!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Re-posted this here as it seems to have got lost under Rethymnon....
We have been to Plakias a number of times now, and we always have our first night meal here. We cannot resist sharing their Special Pizza. We had this with rustic bread with olive spread, a very good tomato salad, creamy tzatsiki and a half carafe of house red wine – free raki and grapes/nectarine. Brilliant for 20 euros [£16 approx].
The traditional menu is extensive - and worth trying, but if in doubt - opt for the pizza!
They also do a take-away service.

“Best food in Plakias”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

The food here is fresh and tasty, really good. However we had to ask for water, which is something that should always be provided. We are lunch here too, with the same quality of food, so it's pretty consistent.

“One of the best in Plakias”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Having been to Plakias four times we feel well qualified to say that Kri Kri is one the best tavernas in town. It's family owned and run and consequently the food and service are both consistently excellent. It's always busy and can sometimes look full to bursting but somehow they always find you a table.

It's a traditional Greek taverna with all the usual favourite Greek dishes on the menu. Especially good are the White Beans, Courgette Balls (order a plate of Tzatziki with the balls for dipping!) and the Imam Bayaldi, Do try the absolutely delicious Aubergine Saganaki, on the menu as a starter but unless you're particularly starving or sharing, order as a main course as it's huge and rich and really gorgeous.

They also have a proper wood fired pizza oven and make the best pizzas in Plakias. Beautiful thin crust pizzas, our favourite was the Spinach, Onion, Artichoke and Garlic.

The house wines are good, if you're a fan, try a jug of the house retsina, it's better than the bottles.

With the bill comes a little plate of mixed fruit and a small carafe of raki, a perfect end to a perfect meal. Average price was 30-35 euros for two or three starters, two mains and a litre jug of house wine - not the cheapest taverna in Plakias but by far the best and worth every penny.
