My wife and I plus three friends, just returned from our two week vacation in Normandy France. We stayed at La Residence Normande.
Located in Connelles, France, this small village immediately made us think of Beauty and the Beast (the Disney version). A marvelous small village on the bank of the river Seine. So very charming! I kept expecting every window to open simultaneously with the people shouting only a single word: Bonjour. And in fact one window did open. The top window of the Maire building, and out shouted "Bonjour" from Pierre. I think he was the mayor. He gave us directions to the supermarche and gave us hiking trail tips. After that, we never failed to pass this window without saying Bonjour to Pierre. Merci Pierre!
The rooms are nice, and I think all must have a view of the Seine. The rooms are mostly in two parts, an up and down stairs. The stairway is fairly steep, so be careful on the way down. The stairs have automated lights after dark, so you can't miss them. Still, if you are infirm and don't climb well, be prepared, or reconsider. I am not certain if every room is similar. We had two rooms between us and each was similar in design.
The kitchen was sufficient, so long as you don't won't to cook a huge turkey dinner. You are well stocked with dishes and pans, etc..., a microwave...My wife and I plus three friends, just returned from our two week vacation in Normandy France. We stayed at La Residence Normande.

The kitchen was sufficient, so long as you don't won't to cook a huge turkey dinner. You are well stocked with dishes and pans, etc..., a microwave and two part range. A toasted and coffee maker. No Oven.
The bedrooms were comfortable, and cleaned every other day. As are the towels. The guests laundry room was small, but we seem to catch it when nobody was around. However, on one occasion, the housekeeping folks decided to use it and we had to wait two hours because their cycle was complete. A bit annoying, but I forgive easily when in a movie setting!
The is a very quite area. No shopping within walking distance. No night life. This is not Paris. If you want Paris, stay in Paris.
There is small indoor pool and sauna. Very nice, when not crowed. We were there in October, so no idea what it would be like in summer. The island is very nice, please have a stroll. In warmer weather, there is a larger outdoor pool. You get free Wi-Fi, DVDs, and enough grocery items can be purchased to hold you over in a pinch. We even ordered Pizza. Very good!
I want to take a moment to speak about the front desk folks. WOW! very nice! If you make an effort, they will talk to you and answer every question. If you like, they will even help you with your French. Julien was especially helpful and a red haired woman whose name I forgot to ask for. She gave me a book on French cooking and another about Normandy. I can honestly say I went out of my way just to visit.
You must have a car rented. There is almost no public transportation. We went everywhere in the two weeks we stayed. The D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Mont Saint Michel, Rouen, Amiens, La Roche-Guyon, Giverny, and many more places to warm the heart. I could write all day about these places, but I will refrain and ask that you give them each a visit.
Please use a good GPS. I used a TOMTOM VIA with France loaded. My wife was the navigator, and it worked perfectly. I suggest paying the tolls, unless you're not in a hurry.
I suggest staying away from Paris, unless you've never been. Ask the front desk for where to park, and use the Metro. We used the Pte de Saint Cloud parking and Metro.
I better stop now. Have a great stay and take in all that you can.
