“Very Nice”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

I stayed here for 10 days with my wife as part of a package holiday with Inghams. We had a standard double room with a bath. The room was clean, fresh and comfortable but a little basic - we did see into some of the superior rooms which are certainly a notch up if that bothers you a lot. The decoration is a little dated in style. Our room was north facing so was a little dark even during the day, requiring the light on, and it was a little cool at times as it never got any sunshine. So, if you want a brighter room this might be something to request - we weren't that bothered as we intended being out all day every day.

The bed was comfortable and we got good sleep. The rooms are quiet and pretty well insulated from each other unless neighbours are particularly thoughtless in a morning - neither better nor worse than most hotels.

There is a lift to all floors but oddly it stops on the stairwell between floors, so you still need to climb a few stairs to get from the lift to the floor level. This would be a problem if you have difficulty with stairs.

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the town centre on a quiet side street, so completely untroubled by traffic noise.

Breakfast is the usual for Austria - fruit juices, cereals, yoghurt, breads and jams, meats and cheeses, boiled eggs etc. Everything was fresh, the choice was ok without being spectacular. We've had better choice elsewhere in Austria but it was fine. The evening meal menu was available at breakfast - there being a soup, starter, salad bar, a choice of two mains to pick, plus a dessert. The evening meals were very good indeed with a variety of Austrian dishes presented and we usually left the table stuffed to bursting. Evening meals were definitely a highlight. The staff were very attentive at mealtimes and service was excellent, with the owners also serving and making sure everything was ok. Drinks were put on a tab to be paid when checking out.

A free packed lunch was available, consisting of rolls of cheese and ham, an apple and a few sweets. Apart from an occasional change of ham this was the same every day, which became monotonous but as it was free you could hardly grumble.

We found the owners and staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very keen to make sure everything was ok. We had a sauna a couple of times, which was only used by us, in the small sauna room downstairs and with half an hour's notice this was turned on for us. It would be a bit intimate if it got busy as it isn't very large.

The only slight disappointment we had during our stay was that the bar closed soon after the evening meal so that it is not possible to stay in during the evening and have a drink, you have to go out into town. It isn't far, and there are nice places in town, but if you want to stay in the hotel this might be an issue for you. I think this is because of the limited staff and the fact that the owners just have to get to bed to be at it again in the morning. Everything is usually locked up downstairs before 10pm and you need your key to get in.

We really enjoyed our stay here and were glad we chose Helga. If you are looking for a very fancy hotel with all the bells and whistles then Helga may not be for you as it is smaller and more personal, and that comes with a few compromises. But if you're looking for a smaller and more homely hotel with the emphasis on service rather than top notch facilities then you'll probably be very happy. We would happily stay here again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side are quite dull and overshadowed

A warm, friendly, perfect little hotel with the personal touch. We were "newbies" as this was our first trip and most of the guests were returnees - and with very good cause. Helga and Franz are the nicesest hosts imaginable; always on duty and do their utmost to ensure your stay is the best it can be. The location is a few minutes walk to the centre of this pretty little town and to the tram/cable car lifts. The food is remarkable - 5 courses! Three pretty little dining rooms. Breakfast excellent - cold meants, cheeses, cereals, fruits, fresh rolls, and more. Beds very comfortable (we had a beautiful large room no.18). Having stayed in so many 4 and 5 star hotels - this hotel may be only three but only because of its size. It is outside the start rating in terms of service. We did not use the fitness centre which is why it is not reviewed.

Just back from another excellent week in Hotel Helga. What a lovely welcome from Helga and Franz and their family and staff. Everyone so genuinely pleased to see us again. As ever, bedrooms lovely and clean and the food is fantastic; choice of main courses to suit everyone. Helga and Franz are so knowledgeable and go out of their way to help with any queries you may have regarding Seefeld and the surrounding area. The hotel is in a lovely quiet area but only a short stroll into the town centre. We enjoyed the camaraderie with the other guests, instigated by Franz with his tricks and puzzles. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this lovely, small hotel to everyone.

We have visited many parts of Austria but not Innsbruck.
Had a good look at the reviews for Seefeld & decided that the Helga was too good to miss,
Good decision as the welcome was great & that level of friendleness was kept up all during our weeks stay.
Nothing was too much trouble & Helga & Franz were there to help us if needed.
The meals were good especially the dinners which were varied & well presented.
The free bus service around Seefeed ( 45 minutes duration) was a great way of seeing the area.
We are definitely thinking of returning in 2014.

Room Tip: Front balcony for the views but you share with others

We have just returned home from a wonderful 10 day holiday at the Helga. It was spotlessly clean and the food was delicious-every night a five course menu was served up with a choice of main course. The waitresses were charming and nothing was too much trouble. Franz and Helga, the owners, were most welcoming and very kind. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area but within easy walking distance of the centre. Seefeld is a lively village with a good range of cafes, restaurants and shops. There are excellent opportunities for walking at all levels. Would recommend a visit to Mittenwald, 25 minutes by bus across the border in Bavaria. Would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely hotel and we are very tempted to make a return visit.

Very nice hotel in a good location of Seefeld in Tirol. Rooms were clean, beautiful view of the mountains. Dinner was superb every night. We are glad we stayed at Seefeld in Tirol instead of Innsbruck which is only about 25 minutes away.
