“An excellent small hotel experience.”
Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

When we've visited Seefeld in the past, we've stayed at large hotels with pools and other facilities but the reviews of the Helga were so good, we decided to try it.

As many point out, being met personally by the owners, dressed in their Tyrolean gear, is pretty unusual.

Our room was sizeable with a separate seating area and the fair sized bathroom albeit with just a shower. I must admit, I missed a bath after hiking one mile too many but then again, a shower was more refreshing in the heat. There was a tiny balcony but it could accommodate us both and, best of all, the sun never seemed to hit the room directly, keeping it cool despite the heatwave outside. Never go for a south facing room in summer, especially in a country where air conditioning is anathema!

There was a mini fridge, a comfy couch and plenty of room to spread out. Outside the hotel there was a nice seating area to relax after dinner although the short walk into town tended to encourage us to go out for a stroll and sample a different bar/cafe each evening.

The food was excellent, most especially dinner. The choice was very limited, just two main courses, but we liked everything we ate. Breakfast was nice albeit a smaller range of choices than that offered by larger hotels but more than adequate. I would ask that they consider offering wrapped crisp breads as the ones on offer we're unwrapped and therefore sometimes soft. Packed lunches were almost too generous - one roll each would have been enough!

All the staff were friendly, speedy and a joy - especially Franz himself who had a wicked sense of humour. The wine list is great and local wines are really reasonably priced.

Overall, this was a great experience and excellent value for money. Did we miss a pool? Well yes, maybe, but we simply relaxed in town sipping Aperol Spritz and watching the works walk by.

My only "negative" was the fact that we were asked if we would share a table at dinner which we agreed to albeit reluctantly. It transpires that others in our travel agents group had also been asked but declined. Sharing your meal with strangers is perhaps a bit daunting at first although it can be fun. Just be prepared in case you're asked the question.

In conclusion we would definitely return to the Hotel Helga and recommend all large hotel addicts to give it a go - it may well wean you off pools for ever!

A small and friendly hotel located a ten minute walk from the town centre. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful and had a great sense of humour. The five course evening meals on our half board deal were excellent and the breakfast buffet choice was impressive. One of the nicest small hotels we have stayed in.

Room Tip: Ask for a south facing room to get a balcony with mountain views

From the moment we walked in until the time we left we felt like family come back to visit. Helga is wonderful. She escorted us to our rooms to make sure we were satisfied with the accommodations. She helped us with directions, printed some things out for us, always greeted us with a smile and by the time we left we were hugging goodbye. This is a typical European hotel. If you are looking for a "resort" type place like in the US you're not going to find that. What you will get is spotlessly clean, extremely friendly, and very homey. If I have the great fortune to return to this area someday, I will definitely be staying here. The only reason I rated sleep quality with a 4 is because most hotels in Europe don't have AC and unfortunately I like to be really cool when I sleep.

I stayed here as part of a group tour for several nights. This is a wondful owner operated hotel where the husband and wife live at the hotel and stay around the whole day to make sure everything is going well. The building itself is beautiful and kept immaculately clean. The rooms are quite large compared to the typical you find in these small towns. The main pedestrian mall with the shops and restaurants is a 15 minute walk away. They have a nice breakfast buffet and also serve dinner. dinner costs extra.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and we so wanted to stay longer! Yes you will find Franz and Helga sincere hosts, who want to assure every guest a memorable stay and this it was for us. The room was beautiful with furnishings of the area. The beds ( which became more important to us as we travelled) were sooo comfortable with spotless white linen. Then there is the food....home cooked and 3 course. Delicious! We were so excited staying here, as we hadn't been to Austria before and having our hosts assist us in every possible way made it extraordinary
This is a treat!

We returned earlier today from our holiday in Seefeld in Tirol, staying at the Hotel Helga for 7 glorious nights. On arrival we were personally welcomed by Frau & Herr Kratzer (Franz & Helga), something we have never previously experienced.
Although officially only 3 star we felt the hotel deserved a higher rating. The food being varied and of a consistently high standard with a good choice of wines at a reasonable price. The en-suite bedroom was generously sized and kept scrupulously clean. The bed-linen was changed twice during our stay. Helga & Franz were excellent hosts, nothing being too much trouble for them. For non-German speakers Helga speaks fluent English in addition to French and Italian. Overall a fantastic holiday and we hope to return again soon.

This really is a great little hotel. All the glowing reviews are well justified. We could not have been looked after any better .Franz and Helga were brilliant hosts and the staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. Hopefully this was only the first of many trips back to the Helga.
