“Summer at Kaltschmid”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

I have rated this hotel as 'average' based on the standard and quality of the hotel room provided.
We travelled as a family of 4 (adults and 2 children) in July/Aug 2012.
We booked via Thomsons (Junior Suite). Very disappointed with room given. Tiny room which was dark and really for 2 people, but with a sofa that made into a bed. All the extra furniture was squashed in the room as well, leaving little floor space and no storage space at all. The bathroom was tiny and the bath was ridiculously small. Balcony space was over the kitchens and looked out on to an alley and bins. Not safe for the 6 yr old as it was all open balcony space.. Asked to change rooms and was offered another junior suite but with the compromise of no balcony for a bathroom which was suited to a family and a room where we all had space to stretch out (not to mention store our clothes). We were not that happy with the alternative room but it was significantly better than the first, so chose to accept it.
On the plus side:- very friendly staff, fab waiter called Desan who was just marvellous. Food was incredible and the children were very well catered for.

Room Tip: Avoid room 210. Room 422 ok but no balcony.

We had a nice apartment in the hotel.we had 2 rooms with 2 double beds, separate toilets, big bathroom, and fully equipped kitchen. And of course a nice little balcony. The hotel is located in lovely center of siefeld. The supermarket is just next to the hotel, so every day could buy whatever we needed to make our own meals. We had trips and attractions in the area, but everyday was ended in the swimming pool and the jaccuzi. We also had some bicycle journey around the lake, which were really pleasant.
the staff was very professional and willing to answer every question, and help with any problem.
The parking is distance fro the hotel.
Don't go to the restaurant. The food is not good and the service depends on the waiter mood.

Typical tirolean setting, close to slopes, decent food and a great swimming pool area to relax after a day in the snow. Note that the spa services (appart from the sports massages) are in the same chain but different locations. Make sure which location tyou are expected to be at and factor in thr transport ( the hotel will arrange a transport for you ). There is a half board optiom but inless you have a huge apetite there is more variety in the in house restaurant on the ground floor whereif you charge your meal to the room you get 10% discount.

Room Tip: 2nd floor is best if not in the main building

Just returned from a week at the Kaltschmid with Thomson's and had a great time. Everything was as good as we hoped, two pools saunas jacuzzi's and the food was excellent.
The Hotel is centrally located for shopping bus and rail and trips to Innsbruck and Mittenwald are just 40minutes by train (11euros and 14.50 euros each)
Large room consisted of bathroom (with two sinks and bidet) bedroom and sitting room with bed settee.
Our waiter Dusan was fantastic and humorous and gave great service.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone and particularly those who love Austria and haven't been to this resort.

Room Tip: Upgrade to large room at £2 per person per night well worth it

Have just spent a week at the Kaltschmid Hotel in Seefeld and loved it. The food was superb cannot fault it at all. Plenty to do at this Hotel too as there are four different bars catering for every age group. The Staff are really lovely and friendly with nothing too much trouble. The only little niggle I have is our room was a little disappointing, we had booked a junior suite and although it was immaculately clean it was a little tired, the bathroom had been refurbished and was lovely with an excellent power shower. All in all had a great time and would recommend this Hotel to anyone.

We stayed here with Crystal Discover package from 16th to 23rd June 2012. From the very first welcome the impression we had exceeded our expectations. We had been upgraded to an east facing balcony room overlooking the small park and bandstand with views to the mountains. Every room and area were spotlessly clean and our room maid, Anka, kept our room immaculate.

As described in previous reviews, the hotel has a fabulous location; 3-4 mins walk to the railway station (however no noise was heard). Centrally located in the village and on the main square.

Breakfast was a generous buffet affair available from 7.30 until 10.30. From 1.30 until 4.30 soup and salad and cake was available and dinner from 18.30 until 20.30. so you never need to go hungry. This was the highlight of the day, as we had made our selection at breakfast and had all day to anticipate how good it would be. We were never disappointed. There were six courses of gourmet, beautifully presented food and, as others have mentioned, included unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks etc.

We were lucky enough to be seated in the area served by Lambert. He is the most helpful, friendly, charming, amusing and efficient waiter we have ever had. He made our holiday most enjoyable and this was echoed by our fellow travellers. Nothing was too much trouble and his English was excellent.

One evening a champagne reception was hosted by the family owners and another and another evening there was a farmers buffet with various roast meat options and side dishes. A Tyrolean show was held in the hotel which was free to guests. Music is played in the piano bar and the hotel has three separate bars catering for all.

The indoor pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were lovely, as was the view from the sun terrace.

All in all a first class hotel, set in a beautiful village with lots to see and do and many walks in the fantastic countryside.

As the famous Austrian said 'I'll be back'!

Lovely hotel, fantastic food (6 courses), very friendly staff, nice big room, perfect location in the centre and very good spa facilities with a jacuzzi on the roof over looking the mountains. Seefeld is a lovely village, the hotel is five minutes from the train station which told 35 minutes by train to Innsbruck.
