Although the location is actually very good (it is in Seefeld so pretty much any hotel would deserve four stars for that) it barely helps to boost the standard of this hotel.

The rooms are not alltogether terrible or lack cleanliness (and at least our room actually had quite a decent size of at least 30m² + balcony); nevertheless the interior probably hasn't changed for the past 40+ years and thus barely is of modern four star standard.
The service is not really existing in a normal hotel sense (reception is not staffed, they don't have a single corkscrew in the hotel [what that might tell you about the quality;or at least the range of wines they have on offer is up to you], if you call the reception you get redirected to a private mobile number; if they somehow forgot to put more than one tiny towel in a double room and you ask for more the chambermaid might just wish to enter your bathroom to double-check whether you really needed that towel).

The entire hotel, from reception to the elevator (which, unless you belong the standard bus-tour guest, is probably older than you) and the dark hallways could just as well be the setting for a cheap horrorfilm. Add a dysfunctional, unlit "spa" (and although it was dark in there you could almost feel that it was dirty), a myriad of strange rooms that are normally not supposed to be accessable to hotel guests on yet another unlit corridor when you try to find the spa and you can be absolultely certain that the glorious days of this hotel - if they ever existed - have long gone by.

Although it might be cheap and breakfast is actually not as bad as you might imagine (yet, not of a four star standard) there is really no reason to stay at this place since most 3* hotels in Seefeld will offer a higher standard in every sense (unless of course, you insist on that closed, dysfunctional spa).

Room Tip: If you've already booked, ask for a big room on the top floor (it's hard to believe that thi...

We booked a Summer Houses package with Inghams at the last minute (booked Friday went Wednesday) so did not know where we would be put up. We were taken to the Kronen. Two other couples arrived with us. We were delighted with the accommodation. Room105 was large with a big balcony. The bed was very comfortable, the towels soft and the shower powerful with plenty of very hot water. The breakfast was basic continental but very good with plenty of coffee breads jams cheese and ham. Also cereals, yoghourt and boiled eggs. Also fruit juices. The room had a hairdryer and large flat screen TV.
I do understand the terrible reports given by other people. One of the other couples that arrived with us was given a room that had not been cleaned but they were quickly shown to another better room. Also our room was not cleaned for two days on the run. It is (or was) classed as a four star hotel but that is not true now. None of the facilities were operational ie the pool, gym, sauna, solarium and there was never anyone on duty to get things sorted out. The door was locked before nine pm.
But hey!! For £179 for a week including flights from Manchester and transfers and B&B it was fantastic value. We had a great holiday. We walked every day and went on two prebooked (£1 each) Inghams guided walks. The guide was fantastic and was given a well deserved tip.

We booked this hotel through Inghams and were absolutely appalled by it.
Upon arrival in glorious Seefeld we were directed to our hotel from the end of the drive by our rep who informed us that the owner, Hans, is "sometimes around and sometimes not". We entered a completely silent deserted hotel and waited 40 mins before being checked in by Hans who said we were early (?) at 11.30am. We were shown to our room only to find it hadn't been cleaned since the last guests from many days before... beds just got out of, dirty towels, used cotton wool buds (ear!!!) on the bedside tables and a filthy bathroom. We immediately returned to reception to find it once more deserted so we called our "rep" to rectify the situation. She appeared and located Hans... who didin't realise we were standing in reception, as he remonstrated with "Aimee" that we were too early and the room wasn't ready. She advised him that he shouldn't have given us the key then, and once he realised we were in earshot declared he thought it had already been cleaned and was apologetic.

Instead of offering us another room (not difficult as for a couple of nights we were the only guests in this gigantic hotel, sans staff at night) he told us to go for a walk whilst the (frightening) cleaner prepared the room. Despite the the bidet still looked like someone had vomited in it, and given it a quick wipe down.

Ironically, despite our 'early' arrival being out of sync with the usual cleaning regieme, our room was routinely (ie EVERY DAY) invaded by a terrifying cleaner at 7am!!! She NEVER knocked and therefore witnessed various scenes she shouldn't have...one day returning at 9am to barge in, again without knocking, before bombarding us with a tirade of German abuse and slamming the door. Ridiculous as breakfast doesn't even finish until 10am.

Our sheets were never changed throughout our stay, and the "cleaning" consisted of folding our quilts into inexplicable shapes.

Breakfast was poor and lacking hot food and thus very basic. We weren't offered coffee at breakfast for two days whilst other couples were... what had we done wrong?!

Whilst discussing the hotel with people who appeared to be potential buyers or new managers, Hans thoughtfully ran through the hotel's foibles, admitting that the kitchen "needed a good clean" in the presence of breakfasting guests. Nice.

The hotel at night was very eerie, even for my rational partner, especially when we were literally the only two people in the place. (What if there is a fire?!) This is probably a 100 bed hotel.

Hans conveniently "lost" our departure time document, as this was attached to the feedback slip... and so we were forced to consult the rep office to find out what time we would be collected.

Having said all this, we had a fantastic holiday in Seefeld and would definitely go back and stay in one of the many fine and rather beautiful hotels in the town which treated their guests to lights at night, cleanliness and a decent level of service - as the other guests on our arrival transfer were treated to.

Make sure if you book with Inghams, they clarify which hotel you'll be staying at before you book, and demand a change if any mention is made of the Kronen. We are used to cheap and cheerful accommodation and pride ourselves on finding a good deal. Having stayed in many similarly priced hotels in Europe, it's safe to say that this one fell well below the acceptable standard. This hotel is currently rated at 4*. We would rate it at -1*.

Room Tip: Don't stay at this hotel

Booked this hotel through "lastminute.com" and as others have mentioned, it was a late booking with Inghams Ski. Arrived at hotel to find it totally empty with "Hans" the new owner leaving a poorly worded letter at reception to call him when I arrived. Fortunately I had arrived with 3 other guests and between us all got our mobile phones to call the owner - who after about 10 minutes decided to turn up. There is NO receptionist nor staff working at this hotel....it is like a ghost town!! I then went to my room (108) and found to my horror that the wardrobe would not open, the door handle fell off in my hands (to leave nasty rusty nails protruding) and then the desk drawer was full of ladies worn tights, sanitary products and various items of make-up...lovely!!! I spoke directly to the Inghams rep, who got me moved to another room. As for the hotel facilities, there are NONE. The hotel pool is covered in 3 inches of thick green slime, and clearly has not been used for many months/years. There are no bar staff, none of the lights are switched on and the ones that are have broken bulbs etc. The one saving grace is that breakfast is bearable....nothing more than simple - but nonetheless it's ok before hitting the slopes. There is a choice of cereal/tea/bread/eggs/ham/cheese but a shame there is no fruit. In terms of location the hotel is AT LEAST 10 minutes walk from the town centre and the main ski bus stop. However, the walk is scenic and mainly flat so ok in the morning - but tedious in the afternoon after a day on the slopes. Other residents at the hotel also made MANY complaints over breakfast regarding the water, the temperature of the rooms, friendliness (lack of it) by the owner - not to mention the fact that one of the beds mysteriously broke!!!! You know who you are!!!!! In a nutshell, this hotel is to be kept away from...it's awful.

We booked this hotel through lastminute.com/inghams. We were not aware of where we would be staying until arrival at Innsbruck. All we knew was that we booked a "Snow Home". This was our first ever skiing trip and we had read that Seefeld would be a good beginners resort. The Kronenhotel is about a 10 minute walk into the centre of the resort, which is fine in the daytime but can be a bit of a walk after you have just had a big meal. The outdoor lights of the Kronenhotel were either not on or not working, so in the evening it was very dark leading up to the hotel. Breakfast was included, there was a selection of bread/rolls/meat/cheese/cereals/jams/yoghurt-no fruit though to our disappointment. The beds were not that comfortable and it seemed that the hotel had not been modernised since the 70's. We had issues with the shower, as it went from a steady heat to really scalding hot. The hotel did not have any facilities, all though I am aware that there is a swimming pool, but I believe it was not in use. There was somewhere to store ski's but again this was a 10 min walk from where the ski bus drops you off, so we left our skis in the SkiSet Shop (opposite the SkiSchool) for 4Euros (altogether each day). Overall the Kronenhotel was a good base & it was clean, but certainly not a 4 star hotel. I would only recommend this hotel for its value.

The service was terrible. The manager/owner was extremely rude and unfriendly. The bathroom in the room was having some sort of plumbing issue, which resulted in a rather unpleasant surprise in the toilet (namely, sewage) throughout our stay. We also happened to eat lunch there, which was equally unappetizing. Big thumbs down.

Hotel Kronen went bankrupt in 2010 and has been partially resurected by Hans who is a very friendly and welcoming manager. The rooms are good and the price is very attractive so the value for money is good. But the pool / spa does not work at all and there is no internet in the hotel. Next year (2011-2012) Hans expects to offer full services and then this will be a very good hotel if the prices are keptthe same. Come here for basic but fully comfortable rooms and a basic breakfast but do not expect 4 or 5 star support. When Hans leaves the Hotel at the end of the day the bar, reception et al are closed.
