“Peaceful hideaway.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

If you're looking to escape the madness of the Indian streets for a while, Hotel Om is an oasis. You won't find a breezy garden pool and free wifi in too many places on a backpacker's budget. The restaurant is lovely too, so you don't ever have to leave if you don't want to. The cheaper poolside rooms are better than the more expensive a/c ones. Can guarantee you'll leave refreshed and ready to take on India again!

Room Tip: Forfeit a/c for poolside!

I was lucky to end up by chance in this little guest house at the entrance of sacred Pushkar. The room was ok, the food really nice, the atmosphere great and the best was the family that own the place, who even took me to their own home in Ajmer so I didn't have to wait alone at night for the next train back to Delhi. Lovely place for a really honest Price.

Although it was a bit cold at night (in february) we really enjoyed staying here. Their breakfast is nice, the rooms are spotless andthe funky lights in the room are a laugh. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They also have a nice sundeck on the roof, a swiming pool in the yard and the wifi is the fastest so far in India!

Great hotel, gives you a holiday-feel. Garden in the center has hammocks and a restaurant.
We stayed in an upstairs room which was perfect. Big bed (!!) and truly hot water (!!!). Had a couple of great nights sleep and relaxing days here, chilling in the hammocks and on the rooftop terrace which has lounging chairs.

Nicely located, 2 min walk from the lake, surrounded by good shops ans restaurants.

Room Tip: Check before you decide, garden rooms are more expensive.

Spent one night here. That was enough. This place has so much potential. Great location. Beautiful building, pleasant quiet garden etc.
My problem was the room. Dark and dirty in short.
I was offered a different room (light and airy on the first floor) but at a silly price.
What sealed it for me was the "cleaning " I asked for the bathroom to be cleaned as it was terrible, really bad!.
A young guy went into the bathroom and made a start, I was confused as he entered with no cleaning materials. I went into the bathroom to see him scrubbing the handbasin with the toilet brush. Not just a brush in the bathroom but the longhandled brush that sits in the little pot next to the toilet.
He got the idea that I thought this was not so good and got out the detergent but the damage was done.
The manager seemed not to care at all but the owner did ask me why I was leaving on the way out. After telling him what had gone on he went to tell the others involved what he thought. He clearly was not happy. I felt for the guy but as the owner he has a responsibility to employ a good manager who inturn should mange the cleaning staff.
This could be such a great place to stay but in my opinion it is not at the moment.

Om hotel is a budget place & as such don't expect too much, but what it lacks in polish it makes up for in atmosphere! Clean room but not clean bedding & a builders bucket for a bath and noisy plumbing but plenty of hot water.
The pool was empty when I stayed but it looked like it would be nice in the summer, set in a nice green garden with a white rabbit bouncing amongst the chill out hammocks. The littlle restaurant is run efficiently & the food (all strict Veg no eggs) delicious. There are plenty of lounging areas to soak up the sun and relax and there is also a laundry room with a washing machine.
The location is perfect, right by the Ajmer bus stand and so close for a stroll to the ghats for sunset and the main bazzar for endless shopping.

Room Tip: avoid a garden room if you want a lie in or an early night

I stayed in this place early feb 2012. one evening i was outside my room making a skype call with my ipod (the wi-fi did not work in the room) and after about 2 minutes i set upon by an extremely aggressive and verbally abusive indian fellow. he screamed at me to leave india, that i am a 'bloody westerner' and he is 'sick of western culture'. at one point he even tried to snatch my ipod away from me...

it was very strange behaviour, as for 3 nights previous there were french travellers in the garden talking aound the campfire until midnight. and they were never subject to a complaint from anybody.

the next morning i asked at the reception who the indian fellow was; turns out to be the owners' son!!! what a way to treat a guest!!!

also turns out this 'western hater' has a french wife!!! that explains why french can talk in the evening and the rest cannot.

i know this is not a professional hotel and only a backpackers lodging, but i was appalled with the attitude of the owners' son and was happy to leave shortly after.

pushkar is a sleepy little town that attracts many visitors and therefore has many hotels to offer. i would never stay at this one again and would never recommend it to anyone else.
