What a stunner of a resort at a place you least expect to get it

Pushkar's newest resort also easily ranks among the finest spa resort in Rajasthan and not surprisingly is drawing large number of domestic tourists to this city

The resort alone since it's launch has become the biggest crowd puller and has pumped new energy in what till date was considered the place only for foreign tourists during winters

In addition to the stunning, modern and very large rooms with great views what surprises you is the quality and huge variety of their buffet breakfast at their restaurant

While you're there do not miss evening drinks session around the pool side with super fresh, pollution free air and live ghazal music in the background

Ideal place if you're looking for a new experience which also is conveniently connected from Delhi by high speed and very comfortable train for your team meetings/offsite

Room Tip: front block rooms get noisy due to continuous vehicular movement on the state highway for quiet...

I was travelling with my family (which included two young kids) and had booked Ananta Spa for one night (enroute to Udaipur from Jaipur). Imagine our shock when we showed up at the hotel and they summarily informed us that they had a problem with the rooms (they claimed a water leak). The general manager, Mr. Anshul Bhargava, was singularly unhelpful and displayed the most unprofessional attitude I have ever encountered in any hotel, let alone a resort that claims to be 5-star.

The hotel had rebooked us (without consulting with us) at a 2-star hotel 20 km away. When we arrived at the alternate hotel, it did not have clean bathrooms and so we went to Ananta asking them to make alternate arrangements. Mr. Bhargava was extremely unprofessional and downright rude. He did not bother coming to meet us (or apologize). After spending four harrowing hours at the hotel trying to secure alternate accommodation, we finally managed to get a booking at another hotel in Pushkar.

What was appalling about this experience was that the senior management at Ananta has no sense of professionalism or customer service. Even when the manager on duty was trying his best to help the situation by offering us a free night if we were to come visit in the next year and trying to help us find alternate accommodation, Mr. Bhargava (who never appeared in person), countermanded this, saying his staff had no authority to make decisions of this nature, and absolved himself of any responsibility.

This property may be lovely, but the senior management is horrendous, and there are many nicer places to stay in Pushkar. This property does not in any way deserve 5-stars, because if there is any glitch, they will not move an inch to help with the situation. Look elsewhere in Pushkar.

The Drive:-
We drove down to Ananta Spa and Resorts which is located in Pushkar and is nearly about 150 kms from Jaipur. The drive was nothing less than spectacular! The Roads were not at all bumpy and the surroundings were very beautiful due to the heavy rainfall during the season in Rajasthan.

Location:-
The first impression of the hotel you get at the reception is like you are in Phuket or Koh Samui. A very pleasant weather(evening) and good ambience. The Resort is beautifully placed between to hills in a valley and luckily this year there was plenty of rainfall in Rajasthan so it was green all around, which keeps your mind relaxed and at peace.

Food:-
Amazing food, i would recommend Mughlai Food, its really nice, would strongly recommend not to call for Chinese Food, it was pathetic.

Staff:-
Friendly, Courteous, Smiling all the time and ready to help.

Rooms:-
We were staying in the superior deluxe room, which had a sitting area outside where friends and families can chill in the nights. The Room size were very spacious and good quality bed, pillows and comforters. Interiors were spot on! And they have a huge bathroom, also in the superior deluxe they have an area where you have shower in the open(strange, i do not understand whether the need was there for it as they would rather have a small pvt jacuzzi there). Also one negative point is that one side of the resort is facing the main road which leads to pushkar, so in nights it kind of gets disturbing when you are sitting in the outside area of the room. Also their extra bed(foldable) is not comfortable at all!

Bar:-
For Beer drinkers its economical but heavy drinkers will find it to heavy on pockets!

Spa:-
I think its overpriced!

Conclusion:-
During my stay there just for 16 hours or so, i completely forgot about my work stress and was at peace with the loved ones there. I am definitely going to go there whenever i need to get away from work for a day or two!!

!!!!SUPERLATIVE RESORT!!!!

Room Tip: Get a Room in the first few blocks from reception, or else you could be waiting for a golf cart or w...

Visited Ananta last week end for 2 nights . Loved the rooms and 5* to the rooms but the property has to improve on entertainment for kids from as well as the pool has to be cleaned and maintained. The management cannot allow people to jump in the pool WITHOUT proper swimming costumes. Food id good. Service is also good considering the area of the property is too big.
all in all a repeatable place.

Room Tip: Dont miss the breakfast . its very good.

I had a chance to stop over at Ananta for a tea-coffee break. The property looks excellent from outside and while I was seated in one of the dining areas, the view of the cottage style rooms & swimming pool was fantastic. I liked the wooden furnishing of the place which is very soothing. It had rained in Ajmer & Pushkar so the greenery in & around the resort was a treat to the eyes. I am not sure, but the staff looked a little lost. I will not comment beyond this as I really don't know about the other services. Tea/coffee & fries were good.

Re-visited Ananta in Aug 2012. First and foremost, if you wanna stay here getting a booking can be as tough as getting a room in Rome!! We tried for at-least 3 months before we could get a booking. Have been to Ananta with my friends (end of Jan 2011) when it had just started, so when I was checking in for a night this time, I knew what I am looking forward to.

THE PROPERTY:
Ananta resort is a gorgeous property. The lush green lawns, the serene locality, the small but lovely pool and the Thai/ Malay sort of architecture really makes the property a great relaxing getaway!

THE ROOM & AMENITIES:
Post lunch we went to our cottage (Deluxe) - the ones on the first floor and noticed cat poop in the balcony and a lizard inside the room. We spoke to the front office and they were prompt to change our room to a better category room and I sincerely thank them for being sensitive. The Room on the ground level with balcony was very nice. The bed was comfortable. There were varieties of tea, kettle and coffee in the room. The bathroom was spacious and had both indoor and outdoor showers. All basic amenities like toiletries, Hair dryer etc were provided. The room had a nice outdoor balcony with a lovely sit-out place. One could sit doing nothing, just stare at the fountain and the greenery and spend hours. The room also had a nice closet area with mini safe, ironing board and is big enough to store gigantic luggage as well as iron your clothes. One bathrobe was provided and one set of slippers. Being a double room, I found it a little weird. The housekeeping said they only give one. The room also had a writing desk and LCD TV with selective number of channels. If you need anything from housekeeping make sure to order atleast 1 hour before you would need to use the thing. Our room didn’t have a dental kit and had only one bathing towel, it took us almost 3 phn calls and 40minutes of wait time to get one :(

FOOD:
We checked-in around lunch time and went on to first have lunch. The maacher Jhol (bengali fish curry) was not authentic at all but the tikkas and the breads were fine. We ordered a goan prawn curry and after 20 minutes were told they have no sea-food. Then we were told fish is available so we finalised the order. After all that It took almost 45minutes (Plus initial 20 minutes) to get the order and that was a little disappointing since there seemed no dearth of wait staff.

The dinner at night was great. We ordered Thai and Chinese and were happy with the food. However service was again very slow and when we asked for sauces and condiments (sweet chilli sauce/ vinegar etc) it took forever (i was almost half way through my dinner when all this finally arrived on table.

The breakfast next morning was fairly nice. We reached late (10:45/11 a.m.) but no one rushed us or told us to hurry and that shows that the staff were very well behaved. There was a decent variety of Indian stuff, cereals, juices, frest fruits, tea/coffee etc.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT:
Check in was very smooth. However we had a disturbing incident on check-out. We called for the luggage cart at around 1:00 PM and when my husband made that call, someone from the front desk blasted him off saying. "you are late, now we will charge you for half day etc etc. I have traveled all over the world and have never had this kind of behavior. To top this checking-out took more than 30 minutes as they had 2 big group check-ins.

OVERALL VERDICT:
So overall, I feel- ananta is a beautiful property and the staff is kind but they need more training and need managing skills. When we go to a property of this kind, we are going to unwind and relax and the whole experience should be just that!!! Hope, when I visit next time...things are better...and hope bookings become easier.

We had reserved one night for a family of six (including an elderly lady and small children) at Ananta this August, more than a month in advance of our visit. On the evening we were due to check-in, the hotel abruptly canceled our reservation - apparently to deal with a ‘flooding situation’ in their rooms. They then summarily informed our agents at 7:30 PM, when we were 30 minutes from Pushkar and looking forward to a quiet evening at what is allegedly the best resort in the area. What followed was about 6-7 hours of the most vile, unprofessional behavior we have ever experienced in a hotel anywhere in the world.

The general manager, a certain Mr. Bharghav, is apparently ex-Oberoi but whatever training he received there seems to have been well and truly forgotten. The reasons cited for cancellation were very obviously untrue (it looked like they had someone pour a bucket of water across the floor of a random room to convince us that over half their rooms had a plumbing situation). We were first offered accommodation in a nearby resort that hadn't seemed to have bothered to clean their bathrooms in weeks. We returned to Ananta to be offered the remains of the dinner buffet that they were clearing away as a gesture of apology. We accepted reluctantly, given the hour, and watched the duty manager being bullied on the phone and told to find a way to get rid of us. We asked to speak to Mr. Bharghav, who promptly told us that there was absolutely no reason we should be offered a refund since it was his business that was affected. The whole experience was surreal.

The property clearly has potential but the owners appear too pleased by their current run of fortune to bother with such inanities as quality checks and staff reviews. The bullied duty manager (who by the way did seem to have polite intentions that were thwarted by powers greater than he) did offer us a free night later in the year and a treatment at the spa for the following day. We declined the free night given that we were unlikely to return to Pushkar in the near future. And the spa offer was later countermanded by Mr. Bharghav who informed us that his staff had overstepped their authority in making such offers.

We're still awaiting the refund - the hotel continues to insist to our agent that the buffet dinner, and the alternate accommodation at a remote resort that involved an hour's drive at midnight (which was arranged with great reluctance after we refused to leave the Ananta premises without an acceptable resolution) more than made up for the goof-up.
