We were attending the Blue Lotus music festival in Pushkar and booked at Kishan Palace based upon the reviews on Trip Advisor. And we certainly weren't disappointed. Lovely quaint hotel. Funky paintings on the wall all over. Takes a bit getting used to. The location is perfect. The upstairs open air pagoda seating area is very charming and makes for a perfect spot to chill and read or browse on your laptop. WiFi is free and available throughout the hotel but mainly in the open areas. The lower rooms don't get connectivity unless you are closer to the door. Restaurant is located upstairs and you can be served in the Pagoda seating area as well. The food is all vegan since this hotel falls within the city limit of Pushkar. It caters mainly to travelers and non Indians and thus is quite bland and not spicy at all. Breakfast was adequate and the porridge and pancakes we tried were quite delicious. The rooms are large and the bathrooms even larger. The hot water in the bathroom was a lovely added bonus in the cold weather. Clean and adequate. Beds are comfortable. Tiny television has all the cable channels. All in all a decent hotel with decent amenities.

But what makes this hotel tick is the two brothers that run this place. They are warm, friendly and ever helpful. Whatever you want, they will arrange it for you. Rickshaws, tourguides, information. Name it and they will sort it out for you. As a part of the festival which were held at Ananta Resort and one night it ended rather late and we couldnt find any transport to get back. We called the hotel at 1130(which is quite late by Pushkar standards) and one of the brothers promptly came and picked us up. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We stayed there for 5 nights and we changed our rooms 3 times. Only because we wanted to try out all the rooms and levels. And not once did they get irritated with us or our demands. Very happily they accommodated us whenever they could. Our friends who stayed at the very expensive Ananta were so disappointed in the service and attitude of the staff there. They were amazed at all we told them about our little hotel.

Sure this isn't a 5 star and you don't get 500 count cotton bed covers and big fluffy duvets, and you are definitely not paying 5 star prices but the service you get is of a 7 star hotel. Highly recommend this place. You wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: 4th floor rooms on the top are the best with full wifi connectivity and a lovely view to open your d...

Thanks to Vicky and Benny for a really comfortable fun stay in Pushkar. THe upstairs cushioned open area is beautiful and peaceful, having breakfast up there was a treat each morning. The gorgeous colourful playful wall paintings everywhere give the whole place a fun, alive feeling. THe rooms are all gorgeous and welcoming. It's a -perfect location if you want a bit more peace and quiet, being 10 minutes walk from the centre of town. Even the walk along the way you come across great cafes, clothing shops and smiling characters. High reccommend!

Room Tip: The cheaper rooms are just as good, with a smaller bathroom.

Staying in the Kishan palace hotel as part of an intrepid tour and is by far the best hotel on the tour so far.

Rooms spacious and clean, nice big bathroom. The paintings around the whole hotel are beautiful and there is a great roof top area you can eat or just chill out.

Owners (I think are two brothers) are very friendly, accommodating and happy to help with everything.

We rented out some bikes and went through town, this was pretty good fun would recommend.

This place is so good! The guys who run it the best. Straight up honest dudes. Super cool paintings on walls, and really good value. Food was good, enough hot water. The best hotel we've stayed in so far

With the best will in the world, it's hard to see how this hotel deserves its number 1 spot on Trip Advisor. The hotel is certainly pretty, its wall covered with murals, its corridors full of house plants. And Benny, the owner-manager, is full of bonhomie and tries hard to be helpful. But the rest of the staff were, in my experience, surly and unpleasant, and I found the food in the restaurant to be sub-standard. Worst of all, though, were the rooms, which needed a good clean (bathrooms included) and which were uncomfortably cold in January. This isn't exactly a bad hotel, but it's hard to believe there aren't better ones in Pushkar.

First impressions up a sandy street off a dusty road just out of town (about 10 minutes stroll) started me wondering what this place would be like. But as soon as we arrived I was left in no doubt. Walking up the short flight of steps and through the ornate doors, you are greeted with walls adorned with rich paintings, comfortable lounges multi-language library, internet lounge and a small central atrium open to the sky four floors up, dripping with lush greenery.

It instantly got even better as we were greeted by the charming Benny, a man with a great sense of humour and generous nature, who made us feel like old friends or family who'd been away far too long.

Our room, up on level 4 was neat and clean, with en suite and beautiful murals on the walls. Best bit - level 4 has 3 domed 'gazebos', shrouded in greenery, with comfy cushions and low table to chat over a meal, write postcards home or just relax and take in the stunning mountain views.

The restaurant, one flight of steps up, is an informal al fresco dining area with even better views and excellent food, indian and western. If you're lucky Benny may cook you a meal himself.

Overall this little oasis was the best accommodation experience I had in India. Thanks Benny and Vicky - looking forward to seeing you again next time.

Room Tip: Level 4 - only three rooms overlooking the lush atrium, and direct access to roof-top gazebos with s...
