“A fort with a lot to show if u give to it a chance!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Orchha is a tiny place with a lot of potential that just need a chance to show u his magic. The Orchha Fort is an amazing structure u will be able to explore by your own and with almost no tourist around, literally u will be able to explore the place as the way u want and almost to loose yourself exploring this magnificent complex that sadly is keep in very bad condition (if I have to compare it with other places in Rajastan) BUT it doesn't mean this place is not magic and good, as I said it needs u give to it a chance. If u are lucky maybe one of the security man of the palace will show u different areas of the complex and will be open for u rooms that are closed, he will be able to give u some explanations about the paints in the rooms and how was the political order at that time, (if it happens don't forget to leave a tip to the guy). As I sai u will be by your own there so Plz take your time and explore the complex, it is a good place to take a lot of pictures with great views from the valley.

“Beautiful tourist friendly small village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

Orchha is tiny village situated on the betwa river.the monuments and ruins and temples are dotted everywhere.while they are in general not well cared for l like their unkempt state and the fact tbat you stumble on bits and pieces of ruins as you explore the river banks. The villagers are very accomadating and friendly.the tourist facilities are mixed in with the local markets and shops and you get a more genuine sense that real people live and work here and they do not exist solely for the tourist.

“Fantastic artwork painted on internal walls”

Must see - hire a guide, it is very cheap and worthwhile - our guide was very informative and took us to a temple in the evening whilst prayers were being said.

“We stayed at the hotel too”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

We stayed at the hotel inside the fort (managed by MP Tourism) and it was surprisingly nice. We also took a tour through the fort and it was beautiful! The wall/ceiling paintings were exquisite and Orchha should really be a bigger tourist destination. However, probably due to lack of funds, the paintings are deteriorating and are already in pretty bad shape. They are losing their colour and the paint is chipping off. The fort looks especially lovely at sunset/sunrise and become golden. The fee was really low, something like Rs 5 for Indians.
