Jahaz Mahal as it is lovingly called is a real hidden Gem In Mandu,Madhya Pradesh. We made a overnight trip and this was the main attraction .Mandu itself is tiny but beautiful. In the rains it is amazing. The entire tour of Jahaz Mahal was explained to us by a guide, and it is supposed to be one of the biggest fort in India. The Structure itself amazes us and yes it is so beautifully maintained. The ASI has its office within the fort and it is well guarded. We were astonished to see the pains taken to install the water purification system ( water filteration )so many ages ago. Really very well planned out Fort and a must visit for all.

The last time I saw this monument was long time back. That time they had no entry fee, people littered everywhere and place was filled with bats. This time around i saw entry fee which meant no loitering. Gardens were clean and maintained. Biggest thing the Archaeological Survey of India was looking after the actual monument and resorting it and cleaning it. Definitely a must visit in Mandu/

See it with a guide to appreciate the multitude of palaces in that complex and the planning and architecture to serve the purpose it was made for.
