“Ridiculously expensive for foreigners”

Van Vihar National Park

1000 INR is the entry price for foreigners to this mediocre zoo. To put this in context it is 4 times the price of the nearby World Heritage Sites at Sanchi and Bhimbetka. It is also more than the cost of entering the Taj Mahal. So out of principle I decided to object to this blatant gouging by not going inside. Perhaps if they come up with a more sensible pricing strategy I may change my mind next time I visit Bhopal!

they could have done much better with this kind of area and setting but still worth the trip. There many large enclosures which are empty but not marked. The cycle trip in the park is nice idea. Sunset form the van vihar is beautiful

A zoo cum national park with good open space for the animals. Better to visit with one's own vehicle as the stretch of this area is long.

A zoo that keeps animals in their natural habitat, includes a tiger trail...and if you are patient enough, you will be able to see all the big cats!

It has wildlife ( Lions, Tigers, Bears, Snakes, Alligators amongst other animals). It is a road along Bhopal lake which has wildlife animals on one side of the road and the lake , with migratory and local birds, on the other side. You can walk, drive , cycle or jog thru it. It is a 5 km walk/drive with another attraction called Sair Sapatta ( a small theme park) at the other end. We saw an asiatic lion , bengal tiger , rescued bears, turtles , langurs, deer , hyena , fox, alligator & gharials. Ideal for a morning walk.
