The place is remote from the town but is very peaceful. Rooms have very basic facility and no air conditioning, tv etc. If you have kids then be prepared to keep them engaged as they may get bored. Staff is courteous but not very proffessional. I liked the place for its serenity and close to nature setting. The tarrifs are very high but the stay is one of its kind.
The hotel organised a barbecue which we enjoyed. Most visitors were foreigners. The pool is set in a depression in a rock is basic and has slippery sides. I enjoyed myself there and suggest that finish your day trips early and enjoy the resort as much one can.

Let's be honest : you won't find the luxury of a 5 stars hotel here. At Hampi's Boulders, you'll stay very close to nature, that's the skills and it's is comfortable enough to enjoy it fully. The room is clean, there are mosquitoes nets at the windows, hot water and electricity run without cuts, it's quite, peaceful, clean, cute, managers and staff are nice, helpful.
Ok, it's expensive for India. But a good sleep without horns is precious. Beeing able to sleep with the wind going through the open windows without fear, noise, mosquitoes or AC is 10 stars rating (you can have the AC though). Just the sound of the birds and the running water of the river. That kind of peace is worth the price during a trip in beautiful but noisy India.
The food is good. Not sophisticated, but really good. And not hot : peace for the stomach too.
Expensive, ok. But with that price, you get a CAR WITH DRIVER to go to Hampi RIVER (it costs 10 roupies each way by person to cross the river) and come back. The way is too short, only 10 mins. Too short because so beautiful... With that price, you also get a ride before sunset to a fantastic BIRDWATCH where you'll stay until the sun is down. With that price, you also get a MORNING WALK to a belvedere on the rocks. With that price, you can have a swim in a kind of pool if you have time to be lazy, and an evening BARBECUE with delicious chicken as a starter before dinner. What you have for that price : as much bottles of mineral water as you want day and night, you pay the beers. With that price, you have warm HELP for whatever you ask.
So if you want a nature break in the middle of your trip, go to Hampi's boulders, even if you can find a lot cheaper elsewhere : you can't compare with others hotels or guest houses around Hampi, it's more like a simple South Africa lodge. Also, I've read in a review that there are no locks. I wonder who wrote this. have a look at my pictures. There's one of the locks.
It's great for families and kids, there were some, very quiet, and they really looked happy.

Room Tip: We had an AC one close to the river but they all look good (have a look at the pictures). We took of...

This wonderful place is situated in the middle of the boulders by the river. Sunrise over the boulders, peace and harmony dominates this hotel. We will never forget our stay here. The pool is gorgeous, the dining area also, you eat breakfast watching the sun go up before being dropped off (for free) at the river crossing close to the temples. Birds come in every colour here.
Dinner is homemade and staff very nice. Worth every penny spent!

Room Tip: The sun cottage is great, view over the river, wonderful sunrise view.

This is a quirky hotel set in a gorgeous, natural setting about 30 minutes drive from one of the villages where you take the rickety little boat over to Hampi. Our travel agent put us here so I can’t say whether there are closer/more convenient options for seeing the vast ruins at Hampi. We didn’t know what to expect before going but enjoyed ourselves greatly at the Boulders.

We got stuck in all kinds of traffic so it was a seven-hour drive from Bangalore. The last part of the trip was off the highway so get to Boulders we drove through some beautiful countryside and rice paddies being tended by the locals. Then we turned off and drove gently uphill for about 10 minutes. The hotel is completely surrounded by nature and has no internet or cellphone reception. The rooms are in little buildings and there is an open hut where buffet breakfast and (Indian) dinner is served. It’s all pretty rustic so bring the bug spray. I was also glad I had a flashlight and some books to read at night. The staff was shy and didn’t speak much English and so we didn’t quite understand when they asked us if we wanted to go bird watching and for a nature walk. One morning we did the nature walk and it was great. They take you on a 20 minute walk across the river to a hotel room complex they have built over some of the boulders. To get there you go on a bunch of walkways (a couple of which need to have their railings repaired so watch out) and then climb up some steep stairs to the top of their building which has a master bedroom that looks right onto the valleys. This is not a walk for the fainthearted so don’t bring a small child or old person or anyone with a fear of heights. We only learned about the bird walk option as we were leaving but the Indian couple of who went said it was amazing. They do it at the end of the afternoon and you see hundreds of birds.

The hotel also works with the travel agent to get guests to and from Hampi each day. After breakfast you get dropped at the little boat stop and then your guide can meet you on the other side. When you come home the process is reversed. Driving to Hampi would take about 90 minutes, we were told so taking the little boat ride cuts about one hour off travel time from the hotel.

The place is difficult to locate but once there, this is nothing short of paradise. The property is massive and thankfully the number of rooms are few and far between thereby making each room extremely personal and private. The room we stayed in, the Rock Cottage, felt like it was carved out of one massive boulder and had a personal sit-out and a terrace. The river flows through the property and the sound is pleasing to the ears. Beautiful birds, plenty of monkeys, a pet emu and a deer are part of this scenic location. The food was simple and good and all meals were served here. Though this property is at a significant distance from Hampi, the resort provides for car pick up and drop facilities to the river point from where the ferry takes you to Hampi. A great place to stay, unwind and walk around for 3-4 days

Room Tip: The Rock Cottage has a personal terrace! And not a soul in the vicinity. Feels like a private beach...

Of all the places we stayed in India, this was one of our favourites. Although located a significant distance from Hampi itself, you will be driven free of charge to and from the river crossing. The advantage of the location however, is the sense of tranquility and isolation. We ended up spending much more time in the resort than we had initially planned, simply because the grounds are so large that you can feel like you're on a mini safari. I recommend the nature trail, coracle trip to the rapids, bird-watching. Incredible views, a variety of wildlife and even pet emus wandering around. I didn't see inside any other cottages so can't comment on them, but we stayed in star cottage, which judging from other reviews here was worth the extra cost. We had amazing views and a river running by. Plenty of space inside and out, clean and furnished simply but nicely. It was at such a distance from any other accommodation that we really felt that we had an expanse of wilderness to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and willing to help, and they're very good at suggesting activities. I recommend booking your guide round Hampi through them, because you'll get a very good one, as we did. Food was delicious and presented buffet-style with plenty of choice to keep any vegetarian happy. Oh, and you can get beer here. We were sad to leave, and wished we'd been able to stay longer.

Room Tip: Star Cottage may not be cheap, but it's worth the extra money. It has two single beds, useful if...

Boulders Resort is a small distance from Hospet and not far from the Kingdom of Hampi, World Heritage site.
It is thoughfully laid out on a site running down to the river where each cabin is isolated from the others. Birds abound in the peaceful surroundings.
The cabins are large and most comfortable and the meals , served in a central large openair room are plentiful and tasty with a choice of more spicy dishes for the adventurous.
No need for alarm clocks here, you will awaken to the sounds of various birds including the screech of peacocks.
The staff could not be more helpful and if you are lucky you can enjoy an evening barbecue under the stars before dinner.
