“Excellent place and Nice location”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We stayed at Gowri resort for 3 days during our trip to Hampi in Dec 2013.

I just booked this place by checking their website and photos. No doubt it is a perfect choice. Food was good. Room was neat. The resort is next to sanapur lake, which is a beautiful place.

Resort managed by Sri Srinivas and Sri Harsha, very friendly people, supportive and service was really great. The best part about this place is, it is completely under family and friendly atmosphere.

I will recommend this Hotel as the best place for Hampi visitors, especially if you are going with family and kids. They would just love this place.

Overall this place is a nice option to stay. Gowri resort would be definitely my choice, if ever I would visit Hampi again. Value for money for sure

We stayed in one of the bamboo cabins last year and really loved the view and the night sounds of the paddy fields. We were back for another three nights this December and the place and the hospitality were just as awesome. We stayed in the bamboo cabins for a couple of nights and one of the the deluxe cabins for the last night of our stay (because our plans were very last minute and there were prior reservations). Great place for a quiet day with a book, or for getting across the river and exploring Hampi. Easy launch pad to get to Badami-Aihole-Pattadakkal. We did that as a day trip via Agalkera and joined the Solapur - Mangalore NH just before the toll gate. That is an easy enough mark to find that junction on the way back too ! No hesitation in recommending staying here if you are looking for a pleasant quiet stay with some lovely home style South Indian food. We are definitely going back again.

Room Tip: Bamboo cabins or the deluxe rooms

We are just back from a 4 day stay in Gowri. Its 4 KMs away and on the other side of the river ... You have to hire a bike to reach the place or take a rick as its not walkable distance.. but its worth it... its located in a beautiful place surrounded by paddy fields and very peaceful... Rooms are really basic but good... After a long walk around Hampi, you can really get a good quite sleep in these rooms. You have a swing outside each room and you can sit on it late evenings glazing at the stars and early mornings just to feel the cool breeze...

The food is good and not too spicy... Best we felt was the breakfast.. always fresh and hot.. we tried Dosas, appams , idlis and loved all of them...

There is Sanapur lake which we visited during the evenings and even took a boat ride.. Its still unexplored by most tourists as its on the other side of the river and also really far even if you cross the river.. but do visit the sanapur lake... its too beautiful.. There are even boat rides there for 50Rs pp and its worth it.. They take you to the middle of the lake and back on the shores..

Overall a nice place to stay.. Off Course not to forget, the hosts are really good and helpful...They helped us to hire a bike for all the days that we stayed there from a guy named Ramesh.. he as well has been a really good and helpful person...

Will strongly recommend this place if you dont mind travellling the extra bit to have a peaceful stay..

We stayed for 2 nights at Gowri and had a great time. The rooms are simple but clean with wifi in the restaurant. Nani is incredibly helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. For breakfast and dinner we didn't have to order our food as we were just brought out lots of home cooked delicious food. Although reasonably far away from the river crossing (it is worth getting a motorbike to take in the scenery, not to mention a lot cheaper than Tuk-Tuks) it is nice to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and a lovely family rather than the dank bazaar.

We were driving from Goa to Hyderabad and decided to stay overnight at Hampi (which extended to 2 nights and wishing for more). Mr. Gowri Shankar directed us to reach the place easily. They prepared a good meal even at that late arrival and made us comfortable. This serene place with natural beauty felt original and not some plastic/ made up place. The host explained the route for the day and we set off with all the information required for local sight seeing on both the days. He has tried and did his best to make our short trip sweet !

What to expect here:
FOOD: Homely, hygienic, tasty true Indian food which you crave for on long drives. (Tasted only Indian)
ROOMS/ AMBIENCE: They are like cottages with serene, natural Indian village atmosphere. Swing in front of the room was a favourite all day! The rooms are basic but very well maintained with attached bathroom. Climate was cold so din't miss A/C. Hot water available on request.
HOST: Makes all the difference, a person who believes in service and good will rather than profit oriented. Takes responsibility to make your stay better.
PRICE: Offers best price and is a value for money. You will be satisfied at the end of the trip.

Finally, apart from sightseeing at Hampi, spending a leisure time in this resort for few days will be a refreshing experience. Will visit the place again !

Room Tip: Choose the deluxe type they have better view too.

It was an awesome place to rest and relax after travelling all the way from Bangalore to Hampi. We crossed the river and on the other side the owner was waiting with his vehicle to receive us and other guest at the resort. It was a nice welcome to a new place. The made us feel comfortable and even arranged for auto to take us for site seeing and even felt bad that the auto guy wasnt so good at showing us the places. As there regulary auto was out of town. The food was good , the place was clean and far from all the city noise. One thing we liked was it was near to lake so we even went for evening walk. The owner of the guest house along with his family were also good and tried everything to make s feel comfortable. I would like to visit the resort once more. Thanks to Trip advisor as well.

Regards
Babita

Gowri Resort is a family run guest house,We stayed for two nights and its was really wonderful experience, located in the midst of paddy fields, and very near to Sanapur Lake. You need to drive around 4km to go to the main Hampi from there. The rooms are basic but very neat and clean, if you want to enjoy the beauty of nature then you must try something like Gowri Resort, where you get a total village feel. Thank you very much Srinivas & Harsha for making our stay so pleasant!

Room Tip: Stay there for more days to explore...1-2 days are not enough to cover Hampi
