Well, the experience of staying here can't be expressed by words. But, then also I would like to try my best to explain this amazing place. Gowri Guest House is an amazing place to have your stay while visiting Hampi. Its location is prime, exactly beside beautiful Sanapur Lake. The rooms located in the farms make you very closer to nature. Its a perfect place to have some village like experience. The service is just perfect. The homemade food gives you such satisfactions that you forget that you are in village. Even hot water for bath was available. The family who owns this place is very gentle and kind. Its only 4 km from the main Hampi where you can get on your bike. you can have your stay as you like (in huts or in rooms with attached toilet), choice is yours. Its perfect for all those who like to stay away from hustle and bustle of city, who are looking for peace and calm at the same time you get all the facilities also. Just stay there whenever you visit Hampi !!!

Hello,

I stayed at the Gowri Guesthouse for a total of 1 week with friends, we met many other friends while in Hampi, who also ended up checking out of their current accomodation to come stay with us at Gowri Guest House.

The two things that really set this place apart from the rest are:

1. The family who owns and runs the accommodation is so caring, and lovely! It's a kind of service you cannot buy. Unlike a 5* hotel which provides 'corporate service' or a type of 'polished service' you will find when you stay here, you are part of their own family. They joined us when having dinner, cooked us a special BBQ and were always there for directions and guidance. Their young 21yr old son Nani has been brought up very well by his mum and dad, and is a perfect example of how good their accommodation is.

2. The yellow straw huts which overlook the lush green rice paddocks are a gem. If they are available upon your stay. Try to get into one of them, there are 4 double huts last time we went.

Room Tip: Choose 1 of the 4 yellow straw huts.

small cute hats lays beside rise fields, next to the lake.
the place is quite distant from the main Hampi road with all the guesthouses and restaurant
the place has it's own restaurant and the family who runs the place are very nice.
it's more for people that are looking for quiet experience
maybe better to go before February- when the rise fields are full with water (mosquitoes)

We went slightly after high season, and this may be relevant, but we still wish we'd just got to Hampi and stayed at one of the numerous (fairly empty, and cheaper) guest houses at the site. Gowri was really nice - serene and very relaxing - but far, far too remote for practically using as a base to visit Hampi: stay on the Hampi side of the river, because (a) the boat trips add up in price, (b) they only run very limited hours, (c) there's not much life this side of the river and most of all (d) the roads are hell and even on the scooter it's a long way back. On the up side: every form of beautiful wildlife surrounds the guesthouse, and the hosts try to make you welcome much of the time - breakfast each morning even though we were the only, lonely, guests. On the other hand, there was no hot water, unpredictable and lengthy power cuts, and the village you have to pass through to get to Gowri is very poor and can feel a bit hostile. The guy gave us a scooter when we arrived, thankfully, but it couldn't do inclines of more than 1-in-8 uphill, and he charged us at the end for it - this may be a communication issue, but the way he'd offered it hadn't sounded like that.

i stay one month in this guest house and its was a loveley place !
when you like nature and silence than you was right here!
first i sleep in the green hut on a rock. i pay for the hut 200 rupies but he have only water from a bucket. in the morning came the first sun inside my hut...a dream ;)
but the roof in the front of the hut broke after some weeks and i became a hut in front of the rice field.
the huts are clean and the eating was really good! test the indian potatos and the cream of chicken soup!
the owner was really friendly and his family is nice....
when you sit outside your hut you have nature around, birds, apes and lots of frogs in the rice field...i like it!!!

the lake is near and you can swim every day inside and the bird sancturay its also near, i was often in the evening time there when many birds came back to his place....

but when you came only for one or two days to hampi its the wrong place, because its not direct in hampi and you must drive every time with a scooter or a tuk tuk to see the tempels around.

Room Tip: need the green hut on the rock and you have have the morning sun inside your hut ... when you book...
