Stayed in this hotel for 01 night to break our journey from Manali to Dalhousie.. Hotel is located quite far from the main city and very difficult to find it at night.. Room service and food was avaerage, overall an average hotel just for 01 night stay....

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and stay in Club Mahindra Kangra Valley

Landed in Dharamshala early morning at 6am, and managed to get a cab to take me to the hotel....When i was nearing the hotel, the beauty of the location & the manner it which it has been built is exceptional and breathtaking.....i cudnt believe that I had made an absolutely wonderful decision to stay here....I stayed for 5 nights and trust me it worth much more than what was charged.....Unbelievable....I had stayed on the top floor with an attached terrace and it was just magestic the serenic beauty that I would witness during dawn & dusk.....Worth the stay.....I have always recommended this hotel to one and all visiting Dharamshala....

Room Tip: Spend a bit more and request for the top floor with an attached terrace...Its unbelievable

Avoid staying in this hotel. Better to stay in a cheaper hotel close to the market.
Terrible hotel. Never book in advance. I m staying in June and the weather is hot here. There are no air conditioners provided. Mattresses are hard like rocks. Staff is not responsive.
No added advantage of booking in advance through travel sites except locking yourself with this third class hotel.

The first thing you should know about this particular Resort is that it is in an isolated place away from Dharmshala... The Main Market is about 3 km away and Mc Leod Gunj is about 20 km away... So, if you do not have your own vehicle, re-consider staying here...

Now coming to all the good parts...
The service was outstanding. I reached quite late at night and the staff was up waiting to greet me. The manager is totally legit. The package was totally worth it...
I went on a family trip where money was not an issue. Putting it all together - We spent 20,000 on a Deluxe Suite for two with two extra beds put in... In this amount, we got the room and unlimited Room Service including Breakfast, Tea/Coffee/Juices, and Dinner... Food is not a problem as almost all the food up there is brilliant.
The place is Clean and people are really helpful and friendly. Moreover, It is isolated. Very quite. And the view from the rooms, astonishing... Packed in the Dhauladar Range... Dharmshala is definitely a place to go to...

Tips - Carry an umbrella. Warm clothes not required. Hoody does help in the constant rain though.
If you are going with family - get yourself a vehicle and do the touristy stuff... Won't get into the details of that...
If you are going on your own/with friends - make sure you trek... That is the bigger side to this destination. There are a number of Trekking Trails...

4 people trip where we lived like kings - a grand total of Rs. 50,000. That includes everything from the moment I took my car out from my complex in Delhi to when I parked it back in there... Oh, and Driver's accommodation and food was included...
Check out all the different packages. I Got the deluxe sweet for 4000 a night + 25% for every extra bed. So 6000 in total plus taxes... 7,500 per night round about... Room was more than big enough to keep four of us in...

Alcohol is not served in the hotels, but the chap will get whatever you want for you...

Have Fun,
And when I'm done with my travelogue for this trip - I'll post the link up with the photos and everything...

Regards,
Preet Tyagi...
[PS - I'm 21 years old, I had a completely sober trip with two aunts and my mother --- and I love it --- That says something]

http://www.snowhermitage.com/ --- my room was the one which is separately lined out bang in the centre... The two big windows together...

The hotel is approx 4 km from the the nearest market. If u dont have your vehicle it is a bit of a problem cause a rickshaw/taxi charges about 200 Rs to the station. It is away from the market and is a quite place and u get a glimpse of the Dhaludar ranges (covered with snow if in the winter season) from the hotel balcony. Also u can see the new Dharamshala cricket ground (thought a bit far) from the hotel. Even though we stayed in the hoetl when the IPL matches were being played the hotel was hardly occupied. The rooms were big, clean and the food was good thogh the spread was not big. They have a swimming pool but is not well maintained. If a person likes to stay at quiet places which are away from the hustle bustle then this is a good place and those who like a much more vibrant place should stay at Mclloyd gunj where there are a lot os shopping activities and hotels and is full of foreigners and tourists and is even cooler than Dharamshala.

The hotel is on the foothills of extended Dhauladhar range. It is far away from the din and bustle of the Dharamsala city. It is located on a hillock(?). From road level impressive flight of stairs go up the the reception and rooms. One can, however, alternatively use the lift and then walk straight to the reception through an open corridor that gives a beautiful panoramic view of the hills, valley and river all around. The swimming pool below and a small garden are attractive.
The room we stayed was cosy with a balcony to the east/south. The view of Dhauladhar (incidentally it was snow capped those days) and the valley was picturesque. On the western side, the colourful HPCA Cricket stadium and the undulated valley looked awesome.
The travel spots in and around included Norbulingka, Cricket stadium, a Tea Estate, Dharamsala town. The long walks in the morning and evening rejuvenated us.
The hotel has a good retaurant where we got the food we needed. The service standards are very good in terms of quality and quantity of food and timely servings. The rooms are well appointed and attendants are prompt.
All in all a very satisfactory experience which means we would like to visit this hotel again. Also, recommend others to visit.
