It' a good place to visit. It is just few meters away from main market. once you are inside, you will feel the good energy and that feels you are not in india but tibet.

The complex includes the the Dalai lama residence, the Namgyal gompa, Tibet museum.

Most Tibetans pilgrims make a clockwise movement in the complex while praying. PLEASE RESPECT and DO NOT MAKE The COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction. Be sensitive!

Once in a while or as per some schedule the dalai lama preaches. If you are lucky or have known the schedule in advance, do join and see the dalai lama!

Slightly small when you compare it to the monastery. Maybe this place has a special aura when his holliness is around .Also sometimes it was difficult to understand which areas are accessible and which are not.

It Is situated at Meclodganj, about 10-11 km from Dharmshala. you have travel to by road. road is good. meclod ganj is most famous for dalai lama temmpe. it is the residence of Dalai Lama as well as an educational centre for tibetian studies and Buddha temple. it is around 1 km from main crossing/parking of Maclod Ganj. it has a magnificent building. the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. the huge buddha statue is the main attraction. The main hall is used as a class room.
it is a worth vising place in Dharamshala.

This complex is located towards end of Mcleod Ganj and if you have parked your car at the main car parking its a bit of a walk - first downhill and while coming back uphill, but this gives you an opportunity to view the small small shops lined on both sides of the road. There is a small car parking opposite the main complex gate where you can park for max 2 hours.
The complex is very serene, peaceful and holy with some good views of the valley. Visitors are not allowed to enter the main temple though you can have view from front and also click pictures of Buddha Statue.
A big turn off is the garbage dump right opposite to the temple complex main gate, wish this can be relocated.
