“Lovely monastery campus”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Very well maintained and lovely campus. The peace at this place was just too good. The symmetry in surrounding buildings with backdrop of Dahualadhar range is awesome

“The Abode of Karmapa”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

On way to Palampur from Dharamshala, you come across the beautiful Gyuto Monastery - the abode of Karmapa. A very important & popular pilgrim place for Buddhists.

Situated on the main highway, you are likely to miss this beautiful & scenic place as its entrance is almost lost amidst adjacent buildings. The narrow entrance passage leads you to a beautiful & scenic view of the monastery with the snow covered Dhauladhar in the backdrop making it picture perfect.

The stairs leeds you to the main chamber or hall which house the majestic statue of Buddha. The chamber has a very holy and peaceful aura all around. Sit and soak yourself into the holiness of the place. Highly recommended.

“Almost Skipped it.”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Gyutho Monestary is on the main road leading to palampur. We almost skipped it bacause the main gate is shrouded between shops and building . Inside the structure is stately . Was closed for lunch .Architecture is simple
