If you need a break, and need to also take your beloved 4-legged pet, this is the spot for you.
Comfortable little cottages, either near the river, or up on the hill (you can only get there by 4x4 though, but the owners will get your luggage to the top! The biggest drawcard is that each cottage has its own little fenced off area for your pooch, and you can leave pooch there if you need to. Saamrus has also very nicely organised 3 different restaurants in the area to allow you to bring your pooch with you if you cannot bear to leave them at the cottage. Pretty much every thought has gone into making this pet-friendly - you even get a pooper-scooper with bags!
Hot water bottles, fireplace, heater - you will not get cold. You will need to bring your own wood or buy there (just phone and someone will deliver to your door).
A simple kitchen for preparation of your own meals as and when you like. There is no oven, so dont expect to do a roast chicken, but there is a 2-plate stove, and a microwave. Decent fridge and freezer space, and all the variouus crockery and utensils that you will need (even sharp knives). There are delicious rusks provided for your morning tea/coffee, as well as sugar/tea/coffee/salt/pepper if you forget.
Beds are comfy and warm, and I was very pleased that the cottage we booked (Olienhout) was a king size and not 2 beds together). You will not get cold - these beds have enough bedding. Bathroom has shower and bath (with lots of candles to ensure you have romance if required). Furnishings are simple, but you have what you need, and you will be comfortable.
If your require the cottage to be serviced, there is a number to call, and a small payment to be made for this service. Well worth it if you don't want to worry about the dishes after a big meal!
There are various walks all over the farm if you are so inclined, or relax on the patio with nearly 360 views. You will go home feeling a million percent better and less stressed out!
My only complaint would have been that I felt in comparison to other sel-catering venues, this was just a tiny bit more expensive than I would have paid for the same. I may have added French-press coffee, provided full servicing, or been given the wood instead of buying it if this was my spot. However, if you are taking your pets, then this may very well be worth it to you.
The website is very comprehensive and informative. The booking process and payment process was also uncomplicated.
