We stayed at the Whale View Manor for 2 nights in November 2007. Yes, it was right on the ocean front and our room was overlooking the sea as booked. However, the room and bathroom are rather "tired" and really do need updating. Frankly it did not meet standard expected.

The staff are really friendly and produced a splendid breakfast all freshly cooked and beautifyully presented.

There was a distinct lack of "management presence". In fact we only saw the manager on arrival and departure - naturally to pay the bill! The staff tried their best to be informative but could not help with our enquiries. There was no information on the local sights, amenities, taxis, restaurants. If the staff were not around there was just nobody to make you feel welcome ! We would not revisit.

We stayed at Whale View manor for eight nights in total,it was absolutley wonderful, the guesthouse is easy to find, in a beautiful part of the town with a beach directly across the road, we did see whales from our balcony!!, the service was fabulous, and the guesthouse was really clean, they also operate tours and airport transfers if needed. There was also an honesty bar! which was great, I felt very safe there, as it was an area to be aware of security. Simons Town was fantastic, as was Cape Town - there was loads to see and do, I would love to go back there some day! I totally recommend this hotel, well worth a visit, it is totally deserving of its 4 star rating, in fact it deserves more!

Told to avoid Cape Town & after visiting it glad we decided to stay at Simonstown and the Whale View Manor.

Good location so close to the sea it lulls you to sleep, if possible book a sea view room well worth it for the sunrise beaming through the blinds in the moring. Quiet location with little traffic, interesting Simonstown with it's RN history and colonial style buildings, good pubs and restaurants very close by approx four minutes drive. Boulders beach within walking distance, once you have seen one penguin you have seem them all, nice but don't stay all day at Boulders.

Themed rooms with balconies very comfy beds and well fitted out bathrooms with wet-room, no TV in rooms but hey bedrooms are for sleeping...... Service friendly and prompt, honesty bar system works well, you can also put your own booze in the fridge, just make sure you mark your room number on it.

Spacious guest lounge with honest bar, breakfast buffet style served on the verandah, choice of cooked English or Continental.

Would we stay again, most definately..

Whale View Manaor is a lovely place. It's a little bit outside Simon's Town, within walking distance of gorgeous beaches, great places to eat, and the golf course - which you can see the occasional penguine on!

The welcome is fantastic, and the property is beautifully decorated. There's a great honesty bar, games room, and it's just generally well laid out and lovely. The coffee at breakfast time is amazing, as is the view out over the ocean.

We stayed at Whale View Manor for 4 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms are comfortable and the front-facing rooms have superb views over the sea. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Breakfast is delicious - again, the attention to detail is charming. WVM has the little things which make a big difference at a guest house or b&b: a 'library' with books and magazines to read while you relax on your balcony or in the lounge; an 'honesty bar' system so you can help yourself to drinks at any time; guest parking and security which is present, but not over-bearing. The location across the road from a small swimming beach which is part of the famour Boulder's Beach makes Whale View Manor a great place to spend a relaxing break on the Simon's Town side of things. Enjoy!
