Very welcoming. Offered good fish and chips, and a nice local beer. I got there about an hour before closing, and they kind of ignored me at the end. Sad. the dessert looked good.

Simon's Town goes pretty quiet & deserted after 7pm during winter so there were hardly any place we can find to eat . So we just drove by and went in to have our dinner. The place has an outdoor deck overlooking the wharf. We enjoyed the cold air while tucking in the warm food. They had the regular menu so we ordered fish & chips and pastas which came in big portions tho :) The staffs were very friendly.

Simple place with limited menu options. Very popular and very full when I visited on a weekend for lunch. Food was good --best were the fried calamari, was a bit disappointed with fried kingklip considering it costs double than all other menu items.

My party ordered fish and chips which they reported as excellent. The chicken burger was, however, utterly vile. Chips ok but only just. The staff kept trying to steal tables from each other. But the worse was the outhouse of a toilet without soap. I just sincerely hope staff wash hands again before prepping food. I'd never ever go back that's for sure. Plenty of far better about.

The Salty Sea Dog was recommended to me while I was on a Cape Point Tour with Cape Convoy.
We were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and offered a choice of dining inside or our. We chose to sit inside as it was quite windy.

We were presented with a fantastic menu with so much to chose from, even the choice of drinks was vast from fizzy soft drinks, thick creamy milk shakes and some beers were on offer. We all had milkshakes which were delicious and refreshing after a morning of touring.

We placed our order for food after receiving the drinks. There were 4 of us and we had...

1 x Kingclip & chips
1x Hake & Calamari combo with rice and chips
2x Hake & chips

All food was presented in lovely clam shaped plates and the crispy golden batter just oozed with flavour. The fish was huge in size and the chips were crispy and fluffy in the middle. Everyone ate as much as we could but we still had to ask for a doggy bag to take the left overs away with us as it was delicious we didn't want to waste.

Overall the portions are big, the food is extremely tasty and fresh and the price was great value.

If your hungry and love fish and chips The Salty Sea Dog is a must if visiting Simons Town or the near by Boulder Beach.
