“Been to alot of restaurants in South Africa and this is possibly the worst”
Reviewed February 14, 2013 via mobile

Went on a weekday afternoon. The outside seating was busy but the restaurant was not full. Waited for someone to acknowledge we were waiting to seated. Had a party of 3 and 2 ordered the cape Brady pudding and one the chocolate spring roll.

Waited for over 20 mins for the desserts to arrive. One pudding did not arrive at all and the one that did arrive was so hard it could not be broken with the spoon provided it was in edible. We then requested the bill 3 times before it arrived.

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

“As good as ever”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We have eaten here on a number of previous trips to the Cape and while we thinking of going to The Black Marlin, the high wind put us off going there. Boulders Beach was not without wind (I lost my hat to the penguins during our post-prandial walk!) but the terrace overlooking False Bay seems to be fairly well sheltered. Having found two courses for lunch in South Africa often means feeling excessively full, we decided to have just a main course. We both picked the coconut red seafood curry with linefish, prawns, mussels, calamari, jasmine rice and coriander yoghurt. The red curry sauce had a nice spicey tang to it but not to the point where it overwhemed the seafood pieces (not too much linefish, good calamari, three large mussels and three good shelled prawns). Washed down with a couple of glasses of Cape sauvignon blanc. We both cleaned our plates (spoon provided) and while the portion was good, we decided to share a dessert - Cape style brandy pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream; huge portion and absolutely delicious! Now we're full, so need that walk along the penguin path.

“Eating lunch before looking at the penguins at Boulders Beach”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

We came to Boulders Beach to look at the penguins but were hungry so decided to eat at the restaurant located right there at the beach. You can either sit outside or inside depending on availability at they are quite busy. You may have to sit inside if the outside area is full. If you sit outside you can enjoy a stunning view of the sea and beach. This reatuarant is both good for families with kids eating a meal together or couples wanting to have a romantic meal together with a lovely view. I ordered a steak and it was good and my wife ordered a sea food platter and said it was reasonable.

“Excellent food and an awesome view”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

We ate here three nights running whilst staying in Simons Town as the food was consistently excellent and the view over Boulders Beach at sunset was amazing. If you're lucky you'll also see inquisitive penguins tottering round the car park below.

The chocolate and peanut spring roll dessert was the best I have ever had (and I love my desserts)!
