You are not in Kansas anymore (sorry for US Film References). Two great nights. If you are a Birder you will love it. In two days i saw 25 different birds without really trying, but with help from our guide and Sebastian. "Tents" are great, watch the Crocodiles sun themselves from your porch. We were in the Honeymoon Suite which has a tub and gazebo. My first Safari so nothing to compare to but we were thrilled. Individual attention by guides (Justin) who knows alot about just about everything (birds, trees, animals, the bush calendar...) Don't start shooting pics of Elephants on river safari until you can hit one with a rock - that is how close you will get (but don't throw a rock). We did not do our homework on how to get there and ended up driving in on 30KM road which was in rough shape. They helped us get out by lending us a staff member to go with our daugther and we went across the river and met them on the highway. Best way is to come in on other side of river, park and take short, free, boat ride over. The drive in is about 15 KM but smoother road and interesting since it goes through cotton growing area and villages. Save your bottles for the ride out, children will ask you for them. If your perspective on how much we take for granted in the US hadn't been changed yet it will after you see how thrilled they are to get an empty water bottle.

Room Tip: All rooms on Lagoon. Pay attention to time of year and how that impacts animal viewing on the river.

Had a great time here, completely amazed by the level of service, the guides are staff were so friendly. We only stayed one night, in the campsite as we were on a tight budget. It was wonderful being right on the river bank, listening to the hippos groaning all night. Didn't see many animals on our game drive and morning bush walk but it was great just being in nature surrounded by beautiful scenery.

This place is a Malawian gem. The lodge and the rooms are beautiful, the guides and other staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the scenery stunning. I saw more hippos then I can count, had a private view to a large crock silently cruising up the lagoon I could see from my tent, and had amazing encounters with elephants. In addition, I learned a lot from our guide on the morning walks. There are also numerous birds, monkeys, baboons, antelope and so on.

Amazing place.

The sunset boat safari was my favourite. Lots more going on.

Everybody was really friendly.

You can order drinks before the boat and land safaris and stop off to watch the sunset. Some of my fondest memories of Malawi are from Mvuu.

The rooms are completely stunning. We were blown away when we walked into our room, to see how beautifully it had all been done—the layout, choice of materials, and design were fabulous. It felt so luxurious and relaxing! The rooms (each is its own safari tent-cabin thing) each have a porch and hammock overlooking the river and an indoor and outdoor shower.
Most memorable of all were the service and the guides, who were incredibly knowledgeable about the birds and wildlife in the area, and made each outing (boat, car, walking) a fun and enlightening experience.

We only had one day here but it was full of excitement. From the boat trip up the Shire river and the close up views of hippo and elephant to the lovely scenery on the evening game drive, it was a real treat. We had 3 small children with us and they were catered for with a nanny to look after the 2 year old twins in the evening and a well designed pool and playground to keep them amused. Danger was our guide and he found us all the animals we asked for. Meals were good and made more interesting by the monkeys leaping in to steal bread! Our family room had 2 rooms which was perfect for ourselves and our 3 year old grandson. A short but sweet stay.

Room Tip: Family rooms have 2 large rooms. Plenty room for 4 people.

What a wonderful place staffed by wonderful people. We came in by boat transfer from Hippo View Lodge. I would highly recommend this. We saw hundreds of elephants and hippos along the river. On the driving, boat and walking safaris, our guide Mathews, was very knowledgable. He was able to explain many thing about what we saw. Lawrence, the park ranger who accompanied us was a very capable spotter. The food and service was not notch. Our tents were comfortable with hot showers and battery lighting. The beds were comfortable. If you are ever in Malawi, this is a place not to miss.

Room Tip: Take the boat transfer from Hippo View lodge!
