Recently I was fortunate enough to have an overnight stay at Mt Barney Lodge. My friend and I were overwhelmed with the personal and friendly attention from the owners and staff.
We stayed in one of the homesteads and were amazed at the attention to detail in fitting out the homestead for guests.
A must-do was the Sunset Eco Walk - a pleasant walk and slight climb at the end - made even more enjoyable by the informative talk given by Innes Larkin, one of the owners. At the top of the ridge, as the sun was setting, we enjoyed fine local wines, cheeses, olive oil, breads - not to mention the sandpaper fig paste! Dinner was cooked for us by Innes and was superb - we were lucky enough to sample fresh asparagus straight from their own garden.
An abundance of wildlife - the birds were wonderful - beautiful surrounds, peace and quiet added to this great experience.
We did not have time to go into the National Park but reading other peoples' experiences in the guest book, made us wish we did have more time. So, we will have to return as many others have done before us.
