“Clean, quiet, adequate”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Stayed here 2 separate nights while on a driving trip. The building is a renovated "Budgetel" facility which was built in 1993. The bathroom counter was granite, the room and linens fresh and clean. We found the desk clerks to be very accomodating and friendly. Breakfast was available at 5:30 am; not much variety, but it was adequate. The Denny's restaurant next door is a pathetically shabby place, which detracts from this hotel's image. For the price, it was adequate, clientele quiet. Nothing to brag about, but not a bad experience.

Room Tip: Second floor room made for easy loading/unloading, not dependent on elevator.

I try to always stay at the La Quinta Inn and Suites when traveling. I was not impressed with this hotel. After driving all day, when I arrived the woman behind the desk was cool and uninterested, never smiled. Gave me my room card and said the number out loud, which everyone knows you aren't supposed to do. The room was clean but one of the windows had some type of treatment done to it so you couldn't see out of it at all; you could only see out of the other window. Due to the late time of my arrival, I didn't tell the clerk at night but did speak about it to the morning person behind the desk; that the window was disappointing as I liked to look out the windows. She didn't seem to know what to say but made a note on a clipboard and never apologized. At checkout time the manager was there and asked me how everything was. I told her the same thing. She said a lot of their windows are like that and are being replaced and a lot of people complain. I would have appreciated a small discount but maybe that was asking too much. I just felt the whole experience was more like staying at a roadside motel where desk staff were pretty uninterested in their guests and made no effort to make you feel welcome. I would never stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you can see out of both windows.

I stayed at this property for 1 night while working at the Red River Army Depot. NOTE: There is a second LaQuinta hotel a ½ mile away in TX which is an exterior corridor hotel. I try to avoid exterior corridor hotels as they tend to be older designs and lack the security of interior corridor hotels. Perhaps it would have been a better choice this time?

PROPERTY: This is an older property that is due for renovations. A recent coat of paint was slapped on some of the interior walls and doors, but much more work is needed. I stayed in room 318 which was an Executive King room with a large work table and a small sitting area. The room was well kept and fairly clean.

The hotel had a decent sized outdoor pool which I did not use.

The exercise room is small and consists of three machines designed for walking or pedaling.

There are numerous restaurants nearby and you can easily walk to the Denny’s across the parking lot.

ROOM: The room had its own, window mounted A/C unit which was anemic and ineffective. The window physically would not close and allowed added road noise into the room. There is moderate road noise that some might find annoying, which lessened after 11:00 pm. The furniture was OK and had a 32” flat screen. A cup at a time coffee maker with only one coffee filter was provided. Lighting in the room was adequate. This room had a micro/fridge combo which was small, but handy.

The bathroom was old and in need of updates and consisted of a traditional tub/shower combo with old tile on the floor. The sink area in the room had updated solid surface counters which look nice.

BEDDING: The bed was poor and bowed in the middle. The pillows were hard and cheap. The bedding was clean.

WORK AREA: It had a good size work desk and a good chair and three receptacles for electronics. Mediocre work area lighting.

The staff was cordial, but not overly friendly. They forgot to bring missing coffee to my room.

RATING: Overall I would give the property a 60/100 and 70/100 for value. I would likely look elsewhere if I were in this area again..

PROS: Price, fairly clean.
CONS: Noise, aged property,
