After recommendations from several local residents of Murfreesboro, we decided to make the hour trip to a Ma and Pa operation called Gee & Dee Crystals. We were greated by Gee W. where we purchased our mining pass ($20 each) and were given a small crystal each and directions to the mines which are about 5 miles away. At the mines we were greated by DEE. She showed us how to mine for crystals and actually spent time helping us find them. This is not a salted mine you do have to do the digging.
Make sure you wear old clothes, good walking shoes (you are working on a mountain side) and gloves. I highly recommend you take drinking water , snacks, a tree prong spade and a bucket for your crystals . In other words get ready to get dirty.
While looking at other mines brochure we noticed a few said to NO RESTROOMS and we were pleasantly surprised to see that they did have a flushing toilet and moist wipes for your hands.
Dee is a down to earth lady with great conversation and sense of humor.
The crystals were so caked with red clay that I am having a great time, a week later, discovering the Crystals hidden within.
