This is the Otokoyama sake brewing facility, with a tasting area and 2 floors of exhibits. The exhibits are interesting. I think they have insufficient explanation, for example of all the fascinating wooden tools on the top floor.
I suspect it’s a lot more interesting during the brewing season (October or November?)
If you have an hour or so spare. Pop in and browse the exhibits. No admission cost. Most exhibits are only in Japanese, however there is a short video in English which makes the visit worthwhile. Downstairs you are welcome to try Sake for free or upgrade to their ‘Gold Sake’ for 200 yen,
Some free tasting is available. Some need to be paid for. Small museum showing the process of sake brewing. There are some costumes available for visitors to dress up in and take photos. Also a small slope outside for kids (and adults) to slide down on tyres.
Went for sake tasting at Otokoyama Sake Factory. Tasted sparkling sake, No 4 sake and No 1 sake. Bought some rice biscuits and sparkling sake to try. Nice place to visit.
It's a very small place. It was on our way, thus we dropped by. Interesting that they had a place where locals came with containers to bring back the spring water (complimentary). The same water they used to produce the sake. Those water must have some good health effect. The surrounding setting gave some very nice picture shots.
This was a great Sake brewery to visit. There is a museum upstairs and you can watch the history of the brewery on video (in english and other languages) before taking a look at the brewery itself and try its Sake on site. The staff could speak English which was very helpful to us as we had limited Japanese language skills and made it very enjoyable as were were able to learn a lot.
