There is 2 route inn hotel in asahikawa, the other one is without the word "grand" on it. We arrived on the wrong one, but the doorman there gave us directions on how to get on this correct ones, i guess many people made the same mistake.

This is a business hotel with mostly businessman staying here. Rooms is bigger than JR inn right across. Locations is good with JR station and AEON just 5m away, and Santouka ramen next door. I read somewhere that the breakfast is among the top rated in asahikawa, and truly it is above average for a business hotel, with plenty of options not seen in other similar hotels.

Parking is with a fee, and is done with an automatic lift parking.

Service is good, my kids left an item here during breakfast and upon contacting them, they promptly send it asap via post to our next hotel in sapporo, free of charge.

The hotel is situated conveniently opposite the train station and Aeon Mall.
Head to the customer service counter at Aeon Mall to get coupons for yr shopping. (Note: you will need to show them your passport)
Lots of good dining places around the hotel. For ramen, I strongly recommend Santouka Hokkaido Ramen which is just round the corner. Do go early to avoid the queue.
If you are looking for English breakfast, check out Doutor. Ohh..do try their French toast with fruits. Yums! For traditional Japanese breakfast, you can check out Matsuya. All are within walking distance.

If you ever go to Asahikawa. This Hotel is a good choice. This is a budget hotel, but a quite good hotel in Asahikawa. The location is very strategic to terminal and station. They also have public bath and coin lockers.

The downside is the AC is maximum set on 18C. It is still rather cold for winter

...everything everyone else has said about the location of this hotel. Right across the street from train station, it was convenient to get some rest right after arriving from Sapporo on a train full of loud and rude tourists. I wonder where they come from. Oh yeah, an Aeon Supermarket and mall right there next to the station with a food court, deli, and great dining options. I liked the hotel breakfast buffet a lot with many Asian, but limited Western choices. Well this morning's breakfast was packed with customers. They too were loud and pushy. I think they were the same people who were on the train. I really wonder where they come from. Room was clean but a bit small. Bed was comfortable though I didn't like the bed spread for no reason (maybe its color). I was on the 16th floor overlooking the station: great view. Nice table and chair to sit at and watch TV. Staff was quite professional, and they even maintained smiles during this morning's breakfast stampede.
