This place is a perfect get-a-way from the hubbub of life to relax in nature! The grounds are beautiful with mix of wild-scapes and landscaped spaces, but don't expect the grounds to have the manicured look of a staffed resort! There is enough to do on the grounds...a couple of horses, hiking trails, a relaxing water garden, an above ground pool that we didn't use because there was no circulation pump running, board games and a game room with a pool table that one would never have to leave the grounds unless you want to rent the lodge's kayaks and canoes to see the scenic Buffalo River. (Be prepared for the river to to be teeming with people though!) Note: Buffalo River Lodge's (BRL) kayaks are some of the most economical in the area, but you will be responsible for your own portage with a trailer they supply. Also some of the kayaks are smaller and more suited for tweens or a small petite person. But hey, that just adds to the experience when a long legged 200 lb. plus man squeezes into a kayak too small for his frame, right? I was dully impressed with the indoor furnishings and outdoor seating to accommodate a large group! For our party of 13 adults there was no need to BYOC!!!
