We stayed for two nights recently. The service was excellent, much better than expected. The free breakfast was a also fantastic and a great value. The only disappointment was they never gave us the 7AM wake up call we clearly requested. Had we not used our alarm as a backup we would have been in real trouble. When I mentioned this to the front desk worker the next morning who was responsible for the calls, he insisted that it was my fault and the ringer must be on mute and put that way by me. That was just bizarre. But other than that one incident the hotel is highly recommended.

The hotel sits right behind the Movenpick and these two hotels are the closest to the entrance of the valley.

A room for three adults was 176JD/night in December 2012. Our group was three adults and we each had a separate, single bed that was very comfortable. The hotel provided a fresh set of slippers and a bathrobe for each of us, too. The front desk employees were all very helpful and friendly. The outside of the hotel doesn't look like anything special, but the inside is very well maintained and comfortable.

Breakfast is a very nice buffet with a wide assortment of MidEast and European choices. It includes an omelette bar. They even offer hot ful (fava beans) with all the garnishes, which is a very traditional, local breakfast.

Dinner is also a buffet. The selection seemed more like European-style food than local. The price was reasonable.

Rooms were very clean. The shower worked well. The advertised free WiFi only worked in the lobby, but the lobby was very comfortable.

We ordered box-lunches from the hotel before setting out to see the ruins. The cost was about 19JD/each and was well worth the price - sandwich, fruit, juice, water - much better than anything offered in the tourist restaurants near the ruins.

The hotel location is very close to the main street with restaurants and close to the entrance of the valley. Friends suggested that we stay further from the mouth of the valley at a less expensive hotel. This may be a good way to save some money, but be aware that after spending 7-8 hours hiking, at the end of the day, the less expensive hotels are still further uphill.

We visited the Movenpick because there are some nice shops inside and an ATM and all three of us agreed that the Petra Moon was a more comfortable choice.

Room Tip: Early December is a really good time to visit Petra. The weather is relatively cool and, since there aren't as many tourists, the local Bedouin merchants are also less aggressive than we were told to expect.

This hotel is excellent. Good location, very helpful and nice staff, you could feel the real Jordanian hospitality there! The rooms were very clean and cozy, we had a great view (looked down on Mövenpick:-)) from our window. The buffet dinner was superb - so delicious, and we found it also cheap (compared to other hotels we stayed in Jordan). We also liked the humour and friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately we spent only one night there but i would go back any time.
As I understood the hotel is locally owned (another reason to stay there instead of the big hotel chains). They don't serve alcohol and I found it very nice - this is also a part of a local culture and I don't understand people who complain about it.
Thank you very much, Petra Moon, I hope to come back one day!

We’we stayed again in Petra Moon hotel in December 2012, what a lovely place with perfect service! My husband stayed there before and suggested that place for us, I am a picky person and it can be difficult to satisfy me, but I am very glad that we stayed there. The room was perfect, the breakfast was perfect, the location is perfect, the staff is very caring, helpful and make everything they can to please their guests! I would like to say a big thank you to Petra Moon. If you are going to Petra this is definitely place to stay. Strongly recommended!
