This hotel is located next to the entrance gate for Petra, and couldn't be better. I drove to the hotel and it is very easy to find. Book in advance (try Expedia) as the rates are much cheaper than turning up on the day.
The rooms are a very good size, clean, recently redecorated and very comfortable. There are tea/coffee making facilities and very good air conditioning in the room. The bathroom is very clean, much better than others experienced in Jordan and even has a rain shower head!!
The restaurant was very quiet and the breakfast didn't really appeal to me although there was a wide choice. This shouldn't put you off - I went to the Mövenpick next door and you can take advantage of their very good restaurants without paying twice the price for a room (if not more!).
All in all, a really good hotel in an amazing location that will form a great base for a visit to Petra!

I stayed at this hotel when I was in Petra in March 2012. I was here for 4 days/3 nights. This hotel is AMAZING. Apparently, it had recently gone through a complete remodel.

My room which was the normal - meaning the standard had a Queen size bed which was extremely comfortable; flat screen tv; A safe for your valuables. The bathroom was immaculate. Clean thick towels.

The lounge area of the hotel had nice leather comfortable sofas to read or use one's computer on the hotel free wifi.

A great value - less than $100 U.S. The price included a great breakfast buffet. So delicious and a great way to start the day before heading off to Petra. There is a dinner buffet which is offered for less than $20. I highly recommended trying the dinner buffet at least once. The food was tasty and great selection.

When I had dinner there I was able to meet the new owner, he was mingling with the other guests and was genuinely interested what the patron thought of the new remodel hotel.

The location was ideal extremely close to the Petra Entrance, so I didn't need to worry about getting a taxi. This was very helpful if one should go to the "Petra by Night" show. The Movenpick hotel is right next door but about 3x -4x the costs. Also very close to Petra main street if one wanted to explore and try different restaurants/souvenir shops.

Felt very safe in the hotel and outside it.

The staff was extremely helpful. The manager can arrange a pick up from Eilat/Israeli border for a reasonable fee.

Hotel offered laundry service.

I've traveled a lot and stayed at different types of hotel. This hotel is the best for value; location and price. There is a parking lot next to the hotel if one is driving a rental car.

I agree with everything the other recent reviewers had to say about this hotel. Remember this hotel has gone through a complete renovation.

stayed here for 1 night on the Petra leg of our Jordan trip

Positives:
- close to Petra
- free minibar/fridge
- candy at the front desk

Negatives:
- we reserved a suite & got a standard room
- place wasn't as clean as we would have hoped for
- restaurant on-site was unappealing
- wasn't all that cheap considering the standard of the place

there are other choices that surely must offer better value

We stayed at the Petra Moon hotel on Sunday 22, April 2012 (arrived on Sunday noon and checked out on Monday noon). The room is well clean, air conditioned. The food was excellent with good selection of meat, fish, cooked vegetables and fresh salad (dinner buffet). The dessert selection was also quite special. The breakfast is included in the room rental. Breakfast and dinner are first class, the services are efficient, polite and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you want a decent place at a decent price.

We stayed at the Petra Moon for 2 nights. Rooms and bathroom are off a good size and contemporary in design. Everything is new and clean, this hotel only opened last year after being totally rebuilt. There was a good selection at breakfast. WiFi is available free. Staff are friendly and polite. Only downside is that there is no bar on sight and no alcohol available.

The location of the hotel is brilliant for visiting Petra. We checked in quickly in the afternoon and after dumping our luggage in our rooms we managed to get over 3 hours in Petra for the first day. Great location, great value and loads cheaper than the Movenpick!

Don't let the plain unassuming exterior deceive you. Behind this, lies a tastefully refurbished interior. I can only reinforce other positive comments....very comfortable beds, quality bed linens, and well-cooked, tasty and satisfying breakfast and dinner buffets in an immaculate dining room. The hotel excels at customer service and all staff are well-trained to anticipate customer service needs. Appreciated the free wi-fi and the proximity to the Petra gates. The hotel is behind the Movenpick Hotel. A obliging money exchange is located on the same street as the Movenpick and within easy walking distance on the Petra Moon.
Hints: If time permits purchase a two day ticket to Petra and return at 6am the following morning to avoid the crowds. If time and weather conditions permit, don't miss The Monastery - it's very impressive. Brave a mule ride up the 800 steps to The Monastery and walk out. Go beyond The Monastery and follow the signs to The View The End of the World. It's a bit of a scramble up rocks at the end of the path but well worth it. The views are forever and stunning. Share this and a glass of sweet jasmine scented tea for a small "contribution" of 1 JOD with a delightful Bedouin.
