Petra is not your ordinary community and it is off the beaten path. The community is exotic, Bedouin, and magical. The only reason to visit the community is Petra. The hotel is 10 minutes from the Petra entrance. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The main lobby was beautiful with the traditional Turkish tiles and exotic décor. The bar area is breath taking, but smoking is allowed. The buffet was lavish and yummy, fresh fruits and vegetables, cold dishes and hot Turkish dishes, cheeses, cereals, Turkish coffee, and desserts. The staff is accommodating. Access to the town was easy walking.

The location of this hotel is perfect for access to the ancient city of Petra, but be prepared for many annoyances if you stay here.

First, smoking is a fact of life in the common areas of this hotel, and since the hotel is open in many ways, the smoke will find you, especially if you do not like it (as is true for me). The main sitting area is an atrium, adjacent to which are the restaurant and the bar. The atrium provides a clear passage for the smoke to the floors above, so there really is no escape if there are people smoking, and if this bothers you.

Food and drink at this hotel are very expensive. More expensive than what I expected and more expensive than other upscale hotels in Jordan. I am not usually so price conscious, but this place got under my financial skin.

The rooms are fine, but nothing special. The narrow bathtub has a glass wall running halfway horizontally along the tub, and is two pieces, with a vertical seam which allows water to run onto the floor. There are insufficient towels in the room to allow one to handle both the water on the floor and the paying guests. The shower itself is cramped. If you are big, you will not like this arrangement.

I have not seen the other well-regarded hotels in the vicinity. Other than location, this one is problematic for me. I cannot recommend.

TV is mediocre (grainy, very slow remote). There is a nice outside pool and a small workout room. Wifi is good, but requires a daily fee and code.

There are not enough available power outlets in the rooms and they do not use the standard two prong plug that is in use in Jordan, without an adaptor (they use what appears to be the British 3 prong plug). The front desk or housekeeping can provide plastic adapters which convert to what you would expect in Jordan.

This hotel is in a fabulous location just outside the gates to Petra. Nothing else really matters. As to whether it was value for money I’m not sure as the price to us for or 4 night stay was hidden in an (expensive) package. The room was fine. The hotel had a decent sized outdoor pool – very therapeutic after trekking around Petra all day.

We ate in the buffet restaurant in the evenings which would have been OK for a couple of nights but became tedious after 4 visits. Lots of choice but nothing special although I enjoyed their take on bread and butter puddings. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Lots of choice again but this worked better for a breakfast meal.

Absolutley great location with very friendly, polite and helpful staff. Hotel itself is located about 50 metres from tourist information and entrance to the archeological site Petra.
Hotel is in a very great arabian style, very silent.
You cant get a better hotel there, although it is not cheap (but worth it).

Try it out and you will be fascinated like me!

Absolutely the best location, service, food and accommodations in Petra. After a long, hot and exhausting day walking in and out of Petra, there is nothing more beautiful than knowing you only have a few more steps to go to get 'home'! Room was calm and serene and my kids indulged on the complimentary mini-bar. I loved the hibiscus tea available in the lobby. The concierge sent his father to the market to buy me a bag of dried flowers so I can make the tea at home! That's service! Dinner was excellent and there was no need to go elsewhere; except maybe to have a drink at the oldest bar in the world next door...Everybody is right when they tell you stay here when visiting Petra. Stay here, you'll be glad you did. They also have nice showers you can use after checking out before traveling on from Petra.

Room Tip: A high room with a view towards Petra would be nicer than the view I had of the street alongside of...

Other reviewers have said it, but this is the best position in the whole of Wadi Mousa.

This luxury hotel manages to combine the arabian sense of welcome and Swiss efficiency. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, everything you would expect from Movenpick.

The restaurant served lovely food, a combination of international and local dishes, however the buffet service could become a little chaotic. The dithering Americans and Russians were too much for the staff at times. It was also quite hard to get a drink served at the table. Water was there already but a glass of wine took time.

The outdoor pool was cool in November and the paved area suffered from the soil washed down by a thunderstorm. This was however quickly cleared and the pool area returned to use.
The small gym was served by good changing rooms each of which had a steam room, and relaxation area, much nicer than the Hammams up the street. These are both very clean but very commercial and not particularly welcoming. If you are staying at this hotel soothe your aching limbs inhouse.

Included minibar, soft drinks only was a real bonus.

Great location, rooms were pretty run down, not very big, especially with extra bed. they didn't make up the third bed properly: no duvet and no top sheet, only a blanket.
the buffet was good, except they ran out of bread to make the kebab wraps, which was kind of disappointing
