Amra Palace Hotel
Ranked #15 of 40 Hotels in Petra - Wadi Musa
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Our party of three would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The outstanding characteristic of this place is the warmth of the hospitality displayed by the staff. When they see you, they invariably have genuine smiles on their faces, and this even during Ramadan, which involves fasting from dawn to dusk and would induce significant grumpiness and irritability in many others. They take the time to explain things to you patiently, and all in all they make you feel very well taken care of.

Aside from this, we enjoyed the very comfortable beds in the rooms, the relaxing Turkish bath and swimming pool and jacuzzi (the perfect end to a day of walking in Petra), as well as the delicious bread that they serve during breakfast (note that, during the low season, they do not serve a buffet breakfast in order to minimise wastage). Their terrace is also a pretty good place from which to watch the sunset.

If one wishes to walk from the hotel to the Petra entrance, it is not all that near - we estimate that the walk would take 20-30 min. But one can always take either their free shuttle bus (which departs at 7, 8 and 9am and returns at 4, 5 and 6pm daily) or a taxi (2 Jordanian dinars). And one does not have to go far to get bottled water and other provisions, for there is a shop just 2-3 min away by foot.

While a little far from the entrance to Petra, this was a very pleasant hotel with friendly and helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The breakfast and dinners included in our package were tasty and had good variety and it was very relaxing after a hard day spent visiting the site to sit and watch the sunset and enjoy the cool night air on the large terrace. Even managed with a bit of effort to find a bottle of wine. Our wives had a Turkish bath and really enjoyed it.

We stayed here one night while visiting Petra and Wadi Musa. We really enjoyed the pool, turkish bath special, and had a great dinner (the chicken was our favorite). We were traveling with our teenage daughter and the triple room was a perfect size.

We are four women who recently spent two nights at Amra Palace Hotel when we toured Petra.
We each had our own single room and and we were all pleased and impressed with the apperance and comfort of our rooms and the facilities. The beautiful swimming pool and terrace dining area were most enjoyable. Staff was welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

My wife and I stayed at Amra Palace Hotel for two nights during a recent visit at Petra. Room was cool and spacious with a great view over Wadi Musa. Staff all very helpful and the owner made a point of talking to guests on the terrace after dinner. The swimming pool was a delight to use - spotlessly clean and refreshing. We ate breakfasts and dinner in the hotel and were very pleased with the buffet choice. Being up the hill and about a mile from the Petra entrance was not a problem as we had our own transport and parking is available near to Petra but maybe I wouldn't have wanted to walk back to the hotel after all the walking in Petra, however there are plenty of taxis and I believe the Amra Palace also runs a shuttle bus service. Overall a friendly and pleasant place to stay, good value and nicely set apart from the bustle of the Petra entrance.

Dear Valued Guest.
It was our pleasure to have you stay with us and thank you for writing about your experiences.
We love nothing more than hearing from a satisfied guest who found all aspects of the hotel to be enjoyable from the meals to the facilities in the rooms to the swimming pool area.
Our quiet garden location certainly does provide quests with the opportunity to be able to relax and recover after long days walking in Petra away from the business of town.
Please come back and stay with us again.

A lovely hotel, not 5 star but the welcome certainly is. The staff are friendly, polite and so helpful they really made the visit memorable. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, breakfast was OK and the pool and jacuzzi were very nice and especially welcome after a day walking around Petra. Great value for money, I cannot fault this hotel. And free wifi!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Amra Palace Hotel for two nights during a recent visit at Petra. The hotel offered a very good price-quality. Most of all, however, we were impressed with the very, very friendly service we received at both the hotel reception and restaurant. It was a truly exotic experience to have dinner out on the terrace just after sunset with the call for prayers in the background... We also enjoyed the Turkish bath and the pool after exploring Petra on a very hot summer's day.

Dear Valued Guest.
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at our hotel when you visited Petra.
Our staff work very hard to make our guests feel welcome and to be able to help out in a friendly and professional nature. Relaxing on the terrace whilst enjoying dinner a drink or just watching the sunset is a lovely experience for our guests.
We wish to welcome you back to Amra Palace again.
