Petra Panorama Hotel
Ranked #34 of 40 Hotels in Petra - Wadi Musa
Reviewed January 8, 2013

This hotel is situated about 4 Km from the centre of Wadi Musa. There is nothing around it.
Due to the particular construction of the building the elevator system is confusing and VERY slow.
The dinner buffet was insufficient (in quality) and some dishes were run out quite early, whereas the breakfast was quite good.
Average rooms with all the necessary. Insufficient heating system(the room was cold).
Wi-Fi at the reception area only, of course not free.

The hotel is old, it seems is was build in the '80s! It was cold and it needs to be renovated! The 3rd bed which was placed on the double room was too short for an adult and there was a big spider on the ceiling! The diner buffet was a dissapointment and the morning buffet (except for the egg-omelet stand) was insufficient!
The view is breathtaking but there are more hotels in the area offering the same view, not to mention that is far from the city of Petra, which means that you are in the middle of nowhere if you want to have a walk!!

Dear Artimitros,
Warm greetings from Petra Panorama Hotel.

With reference to your comment dated on 28/12/2012; I would like to clarify some points:

First, Petra Panorama Hotel is a four star deluxe hotel rated by the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism.

Second, what does old hotel and poor service represent? Petra Panorama Hotel has excellent facilities. Concerning the view, it has a huge well-lit lobby with comfortable seats, a cozy bar and restaurant that presents European & Middle Eastern. The restaurant and pool have lovely terraces that overlook the magnificent Rocky Mountains of Red Rose of Petra.

Third, the food served freshly which exceeded the required standards.

Four, the rooms which were given to your group were so amazing, neat and have wonderful view, all of them have terraces and as you know the style of Panorama hotel building is a bit different of other hotel's style which is up side down; therefore a view is available in all rooms.

your room were : 808 which one of the best rooms we have and regarding to the third bed, please
be informed that all triple rooms are standard beds, as we dont use the extra bed at our hotel.

For further information; please don't hesitate to contact us at your convenience.

again, wishing you a nice day

Best Regards
Mohamed Mahasneh

As others have noted, the views are wonderful. The breakfast was okay but not two thumbs up. The room was huge and comfortable. Overall, it was an average stay.Felt the room could have been a bit more clean (hair in bathroom) but overall okay. We had a suite (part of group tour) so room to spread out. The view is amazing!

We arrived after dark but knew from the climb up the hill in the bus that there surely must be great views - we were not disappointed. The terrace outside our room and the pool looked straight up the wadi to Petra itself, a twinkling city in the early morning light. This is a lovely hotel, and once you have figured out the floor layout (down to restaurant and rooms instead of the usual "up"), it is easy to navigate. The hotel is spacious and clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The pool is lighted at night and after dinner I tried it - icy, icy cold but so refreshing after traveling all day from Jerusalem and sightseeing on the way. Breakfast & Dinner buffets were varied and excellent. It is located about 15 mins from Petra but would definitely stay there next time!

Hotel in a location all by itself. Rooms are simple, Jordanian clean, lobby was nice (a bit smoky, but we were in Jordan), nice views of some bluffs, pool looked good (we didn't use it). Rooms weren't very soundproofed. There is a strange way of getting to the rooms as the lobby is on the top level. Rooms that are on the 10th floor or lower take a little more work. You take an elevator down three floors, then walk down a corridor that is dark (until the motion sensors turn the lights on), then take another elevator down to your floor (again which is dark until the motion sensors turn on the lights - I applaud the hotel for saving electricity).

Took a 7 JOD taxi ride to town. Wifi was not free (7 JOD for our 1-1/2 day stay) and was available only in the hotel lobby. You need to bring your device to the lobby desk and the lobby attendant will type in the wifi password. I asked if he could enable both my iPhone and my iPad, and was told that I'd have to pay another 7 JOD for the other device. I declined. There was a buffet dinner at the hotel available for $25 US, we took a taxi into town (4 of us) and had a nice simple dinner, made our way back to the hotel for about 30 JOD or $42 USD. In my opinion, a much better option for the adventurous and lighter on the wallet.

Warning do not go to this hotel if you are allergic to mold. There is black mold growing on the walls in the bedrooms and in the halls. Several of us were sick within minutes of checking into the hotel. It is also one of the most bizarre hotel lay outs we have ever seen. Poor, poor choice of hotels. The only positive thing I have to say is that the food service wait staff was very nice and it has fabulous views. Suggestion: Stay at the Marriott down the street.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the updated and newly refurbished rooms on the top floor. Do not stay on the bottom t...

I passed by this hotel early this year when we were in Petra and noticed it faces the beautiful rose colored mountain ranges so I made sure when we went back last September I will book my group here.

I made the right decision. Everyone loved the place! Never ending photo shoots from the balcony of the room, to the balcony of the hotel lobby including the pool side view!

Rooms were clean and huge and all with balconies.

The hotel restaurant was fine and loved by my group but or me personally I was not so fond with the selection.

However, I will once again book here. Good value for money.
