“Great location for Petra, comfortable, welcoming”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Stopped here for 2 nights over the Xmas holidays 2012 whilst on a mountain biking holiday across Jordan. This hotel is an excellent location for visiting the ancient city of Petra. The entrance is less than a 5 minute walk away. Hotel was warm, clean and tidy and after staying in basic accomodation for the previous days was very welcome. A good selection of dishes available for the evening meal and at breakfast. Free wifi available whilst in the hotel reception area. Was only in Petra as a stopover to visit the ancient city and that is just amazing. You could easily spend 3 days exploring it. BTW entrance fee is 50JD ( equiv £50 ) per person per day. So not a cheap day out, but just a fabulous experience worth every penny.

Our travel agency booked our reservation at the Edom Hotel the night before visiting Petra. We were welcomed by the staff who quickly removed the bags of all 22 members of the group. We then were offered a hospitality drink of orange juice, our bags to taken up to our rooms, and we had a little while to prepare for dinner in the dining room.

The meal was buffet of Jordanian Hospitality with a plethora of salads, vegetables, and different main courses, and desserts. It was a wonderful meal.

The Internet connection was only in the lobby, but it was strong, and many took advantage of it.

The rooms were not large, but they were updated, and with the wonderful heat, they were cozy.

In the morning there was a wake-up call.

Our breakfast included fruit juices, fruits, vegetables, breads, meats, cheeses, eggs, coffee, tea--a real feast.

The walk to Petra was short and easy. What's more, we were able to keep our rooms a little longer so to get showers before traveling on to Amman. When I take a group to Jordan again, we will spend a night at the Edom Hotel. ****

I have just returned form staying at the Edom Hotel for a 5th time. Since my last visit there have been improvements made. The bedrooms have have a minor facelift and provided with new doors and keyless entry systems. Generally the place is a bit tidier and the room cleaners appear to be doing their job more thoroughly. The staff are always very helpful and eager to do whatever they can to make your stay comformatable.
Breakfasts can be a bit challenging at times.A randon assortment of hot dishes but there is always plenty of toast and jam and hardboiled eggs.
Evening meals are generally quite good. Four courses are on offer. Mezze , soup, a selection of 4 hot meals , desserts and sometimes fesh fruit.

As ever the hotel wins out on location. Just a 5 minute walk to the gates of Petra and close to shops. There is even the rumour of the hotel having a swimming pool for 2013.

Free WiFi is provided in the hotel lobby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Petra....the views are better

You really can't get much closer to the Petra entrance. There are other hotels about half a block closer. Doesn't make any difference.
We stayed three nights. The rooms are very basic: firm bed, not much of a view, small TV (but we never turned it on anyway, clean bathroom. The wifi is only available in the lobby but is free. It was occasionally very slow but generally suitable.
There are plenty of restaurants with good Jordanian food nearby and western food too if you need it.

Room Tip: The elevator is very small and slow. Try for a lower floor.

The Edom Hotel in Wadi Musa is located only about 3 minutes walking distance from the entrance to Petra so it is a perfect location to visit this incredible site. We stayed here for two nights and felt very welcome. Our room was large and we had a little balcony. Unfortunately we had a problem with our air condition, the air from it was smelling. As it wasn’t really hot outside we could open the window for fresh air so it didn’t matter if there hadn’t been a noisy disco on the other side of the street (but it was a kind of funny to hear Scooter in Jordan ;-) ).
The Edom offers a very good breakfast with fresh prepared omelettes. And if you want to visit Petra when it opens the Edom prepares a lunch paket for you. But I suggest to order it the evening before to not waste time in the morning.

We stayed two nights at the Edom Hotel. The hotel is only a 3 minutes walk away from the entrance of Petra. The rooms are okay. We had a little balcony. The air condition did not work that good and smelled a little bit. Breakfast was very good and they prepare a lunch box if you want to get up early. There is a turkish bath, but we did not use it.

This hotel is no frills, but comfortable, great service (e.g., free laundry), good location, and really makes you feel like you're in a Jordanian hotel, not one of the several Marriotts dotting the town. And whatever juice it is that they give you when you enter is delicious!
