There is a great deal of walking, a lot of it up and down, but the ruins, and the scope of history covered is awesome.

What a great amazing place to be able to visit! The walk is long but the things you will see. You have options of donkey rides, carriage rides, horse rides. When you are at the treasury, even camel rides! Layers layers layers...be prepared.

Absolutely fascinating. A MUST DO in Jordan - alone, in a couple or a family... just go there and for at least one day, preferably 2!

Amazing amazing amazing! Nothing more to be said. Despite the rare rain falling, our walk along the Siq was a great experience with our guide providing explanations and pointing out hidden Jens that others walked past. Give the carriage, the donkey, the horse and the golf cart a miss and be prepared for immersion in history.
Indiana Jones will be forever linked to The Library, and as you come around the bend and get your first glimpse of the Library the movie rushes back. As you come further, it is revealed in all its glory - an amazing edifice carved out of the sandstone into the cliff face.
But Petra is not just the library. Continue on to the Amphitheatre, burial caves, Roman road and much much more. It will take your breath away.
Take plenty of time - this is a site not to be rushed.
And it is an experience of a lifetime.
But not over yet, as you walk back along the Siq you see the graves and buildings from another angle and it overwhelms again.
The walk is long, down hill going and uphill coming back, but worth every step!
