If you're looking to get to Petra from Aqaba this is an inexpensive and easy way to do so . The Jett Bus station is easy to locate in Aqaba . Go in and buy your tickets the day before .36 Jordanian Dinar for two of us return to Petra (£39 in GBP). I've seen all kinds of crazy prices on trip advisor to get us there. The journey takes about 2 hours by coach. The bus stops off at a souvenir shop on the way. I wouldn't advise buying anything there it's an absolute rip off. (It's handy if you need the loo though). The souvenirs inside Petra are a quarter of the price . All in all the bus journey was ok. There's a shop next to the bus station to buy water & snacks I'd stock up as it's very expensive once at Petra but you can take your own snacks in without problem. We set off at 8am and the bus left Petra at 4. This was plenty of time to see everything .
