“nice staff and hotel”

I stayed at this hotel back in 2011 when my husband and I got married. From the outside it didn't look too nice but when we got inside the people were very welcoming! When we were taken to our rooms I was impressed. Very clean and cozy. This year when I stayed they had upgraded to flat screen tvs n new bathrooms. Once again the service was amazing. The hotel also has a restaurant and offers free breakfast!..especially thinks to Mohammad reception

Friendly staff, clean room with all you need for proper rest after exhausting all day hiking in the mountains. Delicious food will restore your energy. Place to stay that I am recommending to my friends.

This was probably one of the friendliest hotels I've ever been in, though you'll struggle to find few locals who aren't friendly and helpful. Unusually as we were mixing a business trip with a few days holiday we were there for 11 nights, rather than the 2 day in-out visit of the Petra visitor. Over the time the rooms were spotless, cleaned regularly sheets, towels etc and the food we found was more variable than some previous reports have suggested, including numerous examples of Jordanian fare. It's quite a walk to the Petra site, but taxi prices can be very negotiable; don't take the first price as we quickly learnt.

Room Tip: Like many Muslim countries one is never far from a mosque, but it comes with the territory as far as...

By all appearances, this hotel survives on tour groups and people (like, unfortunately, we did!) who book through travel agents. We stayed one night and, I think, only a couple of other rooms were occupied but the fact that the dining room was laid out with a few (4-5) small tables and then many, many tables set for 20+ people is a dead giveaway of their market segment.

The rooms are small, the air conditioning does not work very well (hard to calibrate and only comes on at 6:00 pm - not sure why). Perhaps it was the general emptiness when we arrived but the reception area looked dark and unwelcoming. The room, at first glance, looked clean but the toilet in the bathroom contained, um, matter left by the previous occupant. Hygiene, anyone? Dinner was an average sort of buffet (steamed veggies and rice for the vegetarians in my family even though we had asked for vegetarian meals in advance) and various meats for the meat eaters but nothing local as far as I could make out. The breakfast buffet was tasteless - the precooked eggs would have been perfectly at home in the economy section of any US airline. The pool was closed so can't comment on that. On the plus side, the hotel had great WiFi ($8). Also, try not to get a room at the back. There is mosque right next door so you know you're going to be up at 5 am!

All that said, the biggest downside is that the hotel is far from the outskirts of the main town. You're pretty much restricted to hanging around at the hotel and eating there which is never a good idea.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front probably have better views and are likely quieter. There is a mosque right be...

The hotel is very comfortable, the staff is hospitable. The rooms are clean. The hotel is situated not far from visitors' center. Special thanks to Muhammad in the reception and to Emad the restaurant manager.

My travel guide (Rough Guide) describes this to be a decent enough place although the rooms are somewhat generic, i.e. boring. Not mine! Have I ever had a room with a round bed and mirrors on the walls.... I am sure everybody seeing the room thinks of somewhat naughty thoughts! Oh well, I am not complaining at all. The room was also very large and comfortable.

The only downside here is the location which is somewhat far away from the center of the town where most services are. So unless you take a taxi or walk a steep hill down and up, you are basically stuck with what the hotel has to offer. The restaurant there serves a buffet style meals with various choices, local and international, so you will not go hungry. And the upside is that it is nice and quiet.

A little way away from the sights, however we had a driver so this was not a concern. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. The pool was lovely and cold. Local shops had everything I needed. Wifi (extra cost) was quick.
