“Large rooms in the centre of Petra (city)”
Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

We got a nice big room, but teethclattering cold (in January). Great breakfast but yet again no warmth in the restaurant. We wondered if we were the only guests since there neither were heat nor light on at the hotel (economy mode?). The entrance to the site were 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Helpful staff. We asked for taxi two times, and they arranged free transportation both times :)
Recommendable! (Bring pyjamas in winter ;) )

The hotel is very clean and completely renovated, with wifi also in the bedrooms. At the beginning, we booked for two nights, but we stayed for four nights: we had a very pleasant experience, thanks to the staff, and in particular to Leith. He organized our trip to Wadi Rum (a good trip for which we spent less than the other people we met there); and he helped us solve the accident we had with a tyre of our rented car. Coming back to Petra from the desert, a tyre basically exploded. Leith called the car rental manager, negotiated with him, and called his brother, who brought my boyfriend to a mechanic. We spent a couple of hours chatting and drinking a tea with him. The whole staff was friendly and nice with us. A great experience!

My husband and I enjoyed a very comfortable 3-night stay at this hotel in December 2012. We arrived in Wadi Musa very late at night not having a hotel already booked. Thankfully, Al-Rashid hotel had a room available for us! The hotel manager, Laith, was really friendly and helpful and helped us settle into the room. The room was great- a big bedroom and a well-sized, clean and modern bathroom. In the morning, we were up before dawn to be at Petra as soon as the gates opened. We weren't expecting to have breakfast ready for us as we were leaving so early, but Laith was down in the lobby and prepared (himself) a wonderful and very generous breakfast pack for each of us to take with us to Petra. Again, this was very unexpected and very kind. These kinds of good deeds are very hard to come by these days.

The hotel staff are very helpful. The next day we were travelling to Aqaba and one of the other hotel managers drew us a very helpful road map to get there and also as were were leaving, they gave us helpful directions for getting to the Dead Sea.

The hotel is conveniently located at the main roundabout in Wadi Musa. It's about a 20 minute walk to the main gates of Petra and the main restaurant and cafe strip.

As mentioned, the rate includes a traditional Arabic breakfast of flat breads and spreads, boiled eggs, cold meat and cheese, coffee and tea. Really lovely, and for the rate of the room, you honestly couldn't ask for anything nicer.

Thank you again to Laith and the staff at the hotel for a really great service!

I spent 4 nights at Al Rashid and was very pleased with my choice. The staff are wonderful: welcoming and very friendly, they make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. The room was very clean and comfy and the rate included a tasty breakfast. I also had dinner a couple of time at the hotel restaurant and the chef prepared some delicious vegetarian meals upon my request. The spacious and tastefully decorated lobby is a great place to chat with other travellers while sipping tea. The entrance to the ancient city of Petra is 10-15 minutes walking downhill and there are shops and restaurants all around.
This is a gem of a hotel!

Great hotel! Reasonable price for newly refurbished and very clean rooms with great hot showers available 24hrs. Located at the main roundabout in town, a 10min steep walk from the front gate to Petra (we paid 3 dinar for a one way taxi up the hill) Wifi was slow but reliable and the staff were friendly, happy to have a chat and very helpful. Breakfast was great - it was very large and included pita, eggs, salad, yoghurt etc.

We originally planned to stay at Saba's next door but after looking at the rooms in each place opted for El Rashid. For price and services Rashid wins but for a more hostel vibe where you can meet others it looked like Saba was better.

The wifi seemed to get overtaxed at times, but other than that, this was great value given that Wadi Musa seems a bit high priced. Staff was very friendly. Helped us with doing laundry and with suggestions for things to see. Always handy with a mint tea right when you wanted it. Breakfast was simple but filling. Rooms were large and clean.

El Rashid is located at the heart of Wadi Musa village. Plenty of mini-markets and eateries around. Rooms are pretty basic (dining room up a few notches, breakfast very decent) but service is impeccable. We arrived in the afternoon and asked reception to book us tickets for Petra by Night (a unique experience but immensely popular!) which they did instantly. We stayed for 3 nights and on the second night we were upgraded to a larger room which was made available in the meantime (they moved all our stuff). They offered us a complimentary dinner (very good) and, when we left, they gave us 2 large bottles of water for the road (a fantastic gesture in this hot country - we were setting off on the long journey to Wadi Rum). They let us call our Petra guide on his mobile for free from the reception phone. Receptionists and waiters very friendly and polite, made us feel at home. Only drawbacks: a. It's a 30' walk up and downhill (or a 5' taxi ride) to the entrance of the Petra site (taxis are plentiful and cheap); b. They don't take Visa (only Mastercard): they hadn't told us from the beginning so at checkout we had to rush to the bank (right opposite) to change euros (banks were closing earlier that day, a close call but we finally made it!). Still, we left with the best impressions.
