I have to say after being at other hotels in the area, this one was the best. Cheap and cheerful. The evening meal is amazing, the staff helpful. All was fantastic that it even made me get over the fact we had no warm water in the morning for a shower. Good backpackers or more comfortable traveller spot to stay when in Petra!

Whatever was lacking in the rooms, the staff completely made up for by being super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We were there in March, so it was still pretty chilly and there was no heating, in addition to the hot water only being on from 7-8AM and 5-7PM, which was a little annoying. Apart from that, though, the staff will not only serve you tea until you're about to explode, but will organize trips to and from Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman, and even Damascus, as well as setting you up with other hostels there, and they'll even pack your lunch for all of these adventures. The hostel is also really international and is a great place to meet other travelers from all over the place. An extra bonus, if you're there when the weather is warmer, you can sleep on the roof for only about 5JD per night.

We stayed at the end of winter and the dorms were freezing, only the lobby was heated. Hot water for showers is only available in the early morning and late afternoon. If you stay in a dorm toilet paper is not provided free of charge so bring your own. Buffet dinner was OK but I'd recommend also eating in town if
you're there a few nights. Overall it's a cheap bed while visiting Petra and a sociable place to meet other travellers, but not recommended for the colder months.

Okay, so this might not be the Rtiz but that doesnt stop it from being any less enjoyable!

Its a quirky little inn, just up from petra in wadi musa. its mainly designed for the backpacker and has a very liberal studenty feel attracting people from all over...when i was there, i met japanese, israelis, french, americans, dutch and others...all on the grand trail to petra...

the staff are very friendly and helpful....they are happy to give you advise whenever needed and perhaps the cutest thing is the free of charge shuttle the manager provides down the hill to the entrance of the petra rose city a few times a day.

The dinner is incredible...they lay out on a huge table huge platters of middle eastern foods, salads, all home prepared and delicious. very useful for a backpacker in need of good meal at the end of a tiresome day or anyone whos been on a day trip down to petra, which can also be tiresome.

the rooms are simple but spacious and contain everything you need. i also stayed in the dormitory which was a clean and satisfactory.

the best part about this hotel is the lobby which doubles up as a common room, layed out with comfy chairs, coffee tables, and is buzzing with people at night talking about their travels. they also have a policy of showing a viewing of Indiana Jones film a few times a day out of pride of its Petra scenes....

all in all it was a friendly and cosy little inn, with a unique homely decor, friendly management, and a great place to check into during your travel to peta. the rooms are basic but for the price are definately reasonable...

Well we stayed there only one night, because the staff was very unfriendly...
secondly they offer 50% discount for the wadi rum tour... and it still costs 35 JD... and as i found out 35 JD is the normal price....
so i don't know what to say... once ago ( in 2006) it was a really nice place, but now...

During our stay in Amman at Farah Hotel, the owner recommended for us to stay at Valentine Inn when we moved on to Petra the next day. The owners of Valentine Inn are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basis, but decent. It is a typical back packer style hotel with a variety of types of rooms. I stayed in a single room with ensuite bathroom. You can use their free Wifi from anywhere in the hotel. Also, breakfast and dinner were both included in the room price. I paid $21 for my room. The dinner was a traditional Beduoin style meal with around 20 different types of salads. Everyone ate together at a large table. It was nice to share travel stories and meet some new people.

We were recommended to the Valentine Inn by a number of people who had visited Petra. In the nearby village of Wadi Musa, the inn is conveniently located and offers free pick up and drop off at the Petra gates, although we weren't able to find the pick up on one day. The buffet dinner in the evening is a good idea and satisfying after a day trekking round Petra and the view from the outdoor eating area is lovely. The two ladies apparently running the show are helpful and knowledgeable about the local area but, we found, less so about transport options elswhere. The double rooms, especially those with a view, are a little pricey for backpackers. The dorm room was clean but the bathroom door didn't shut properly, let alone lock. Overall, a handy place to stay for visiting Petra.
