“Peacefull great hotel!”
Reviewed February 4, 2009

Away from all the noise, traffic, it's a great place to stay if you want a really peacefull and quiet hotel. The arquitecture is surprising, not the usual buildings, but little and cosy villas, with spacious rooms. At nigth it's amasing the stillness around us, you only hear the animals in houses near by, and the wather from the mini watherfall.
The food is quite good, although sometimes, instead of the buffet they only serve a la cart menus.
The fantastic pool... and the gorgeouse sunset on the top of that hill.. are definitely the best things you can enjoy in the hotel.

We ended up at this hotel cause we could not get into our first choices. It holds a lot of promise as a hotel from the outside with very attractive architecture and stone buildings. The room was large if simply furnished and as others have mentioned missing the basics (complimentary water, room service), however the bathrooms are not luxurious. We used the pool which was indoors and very warm and overall very nice.

However, we found this hotel to be really odd, like random people (though it is the same staff) turn up each day and think they will work in a hotel with no one really running it. When we arrived the room had been serviced but no towels, same the next day. Outside our room for the 2 nights we stayed were dirty dishes which never got picked up. You have to have buffet for dinner but for lunch you can get a la carte and if you are not half board, paying seemed very random.

We were told it opened about 6 years ago, closed and then reopened a year ago. We kept feeling like it only opened the week we arrived. A good manger and some minor works would make this a very good hotel but till then it is just odd.

The expectations were high when we arrived at the hotel, as it is in fact, very beautiful, but we were very desappoited in the moment we arrived in the room....

The room is spacious, but at the same time very poor; almost no furniture and the wi-fi internet doesn't work in the room.

There is NO room service, which is the worst point in this hotel, specially because this is a huge hotel and not necessarilly you are in the mood to go to the buffet after a full day walking in Petra.

  • Disliked — the fact that they don't have room service.....

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in Aug 2008.
There would be nothing wrong with it, if the owners didn't price and give it away
as a 5 star hotel.
The setting is nice and original (a bedouin village), and that's the reason we chose it
in the first place. The rooms are specifically large.
But that's about it...on the positive side.
The amenities are poor. No complimentary water in the room, 10 channels on the TV out of which only about 5 actually work. Poor choice and quality of food at the included breakfast and dinner buffets.
The service is not that great also. The swimming pool looked OK but we did not try it.
I don't know how much we payed as it was included in a tour, but at the reception they said 150Jod....way too expensive for the quality you get.
Next time we will definitely try Movenpick or Marriott.

rgds,
Cristian

This hotel, though a short taxi ride from Petra was brilliant. Rooms immaculate, though built on a hill - ask for a lower room if you get tired! Food and service excellent. Can't think of anything to fault this one other than a short walk up an incline to a very comfortable bed.

This is a very nice hotel built on a steep hillside up above Wadi Musa. It is built in a sort of village style with the rooms spread out over the hill in smaller buildings - my one complaint was that the hill up to my room was really steep for tired legs at the end of a day touring Petra! It has great views of the Petra mountains and the terrace of the restaurant is a good spot to watch the sun go down. It just opened (in march 08) so everything was in good condition and it has a really nice indoor pool. The hotel is not very close to the town centre so if you don't have a hire car, you are a bit stuck in the hotel but the restaurant is pretty good so if you are only there for a day or two, this shouldn't be a problem as it is easy to get taxis from outside the gates of Petra to get back to the hotel at the end of the day.

  • Liked — View of sunset over the Petra mountains
  • Disliked — Having to walk up a steep hill to go to bed and the call to prayer from the local muezzin at 5am
