“Past its prime”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

This hotel won a number of awards about 15 years ago but it seems to have gone downhill since then. It needs a good cleaning and refresh. For example, caked vomit on the pool chaises, ripped cushions on the outside couches, mould around the bathtub. It could be a spectacular resort with some much needed renovations.

I agree with the other reviewers about the buffet - it barely makes the grade. And you feel captive to the mediocore offering as you are so far from town. On our second night we were not very hungry as we'd had a late lunch in town but we were unable to order appetizers or snacks in the bar - only the full or half buffet, which didn't appeal to us for a second night.

Wifi only in the public areas and not much comfortable seating.

Without an infusion of cash and creativity, I can't recommend this hotel.

The Beit Zaman is a wonderful experience, very helpful and great service in every respect, personnel went out of their way to accommodate our needs. While in a foreign country one needs to go with an open mind and open heart and enjoy. God bless you all and we truly thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without being repetitive, bad: service, food, amenities, and to top it off, the bathroom was very very dirty. When I complained, they did not respond. It was like a flea bag from the '50's back in the US

This hotel has lots of character and some amazing views down the valley and to the mountains. Our room was fine, but the bathroom seemed a bit old and the room generally needed a bit of a makeover. Wireless reception was available in the reception and restaurant areas only. Having wireless in the rooms would be a big improvement

This is a lovely resort near Petra. The resort is built to look like a village. There are wonderful views. It is nice to be outside of the busy village of Petra. My room had a new bathroom and furniture. Very up to date design and extremely clean. The restaurant and bar were excellent. The gift store owner was very nice and his prices were cheaper than the same items in Petra. I wish that I could have stayed longer.

The hotel is a former village , Bedouin perhaps, and is very nicely done...rooms were comfortable, clean, and very quiet.
food service is all buffet but of very high quality, as was service, closely supervised by owner
The indoor pool was large, clean and warm
we stayed for two nights while visiting Petra, we took three rooms and the entire group was delighted

the views are great and compared to other hotels that may be closer to Petra site, this is quietter and has views

it is rated as five star, but certainly it is all relative...but would return and would certainly recommend to friends and clients

The hotel is an old village transformed to a hotel. The rooms are the tiny houses of the village. We stayed there two nights for a visit to Petra. The hotel was very quiet and the it has an indoor pool. The breakfast and dinner served was poor for a 5 star hotel. Not a big variety and they don't refill the buffet. The hotel is a little bit away from the archaeological site, restaurants and other hotels in Petra and you need a taxi to go there.
