“Good experience”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Very friendly staff, and good experience. There is a nice views from the camps and it's so peaceful. Recommendable to get to the camp before the sunset, to see the amazing landscape.Great service, and the dinner was delicious, cooked in traditional style. Best food we ate in Jordan! We enjoyed our stay.

Our stay in the camp was a great experience, the location was amazing, brilliant views from the rocks and the staff - ultra friendly and took good care of us. It was also the best food we ate in Jordan, all cooked in the camp using traditional methods. On top - we experienced the best customer service ever when our luggage got lost 2 days earlier on the flight from London to Amman and we gave up hope we will get anywhere after speaking with the Amman airport (no update for 4 days), our coordinator- Salam, arranged it to be delivered to Aqaba which was our next destination and even send the private driver to our next hotel, because the airport refused to have it delivered! Will recommend it to everyone!!!!!!:)

Room Tip: remember to take warmer clothes as it gets chilly at night

We loved our night in The Rock Camp. The fabulous staff made it very special. The beautiful quiet setting was even more stunning under a full moon. The dinner - cooked in a special underground BBQ - was delicious. The accommodation was comfortable and clean - much much nicer than anything we saw in Wadi Rum where most people tend to look for a luxury camping experience. We were delighted we chose this option and recommend it as a 'must do' when visiting Petra.

Room Tip: Choose the bigger white canvas tents.

Travelling to Petra is an absolute must see experience in Jordan and one of the highlights of my travelling life to date. Staying at the Rock Camp added to that experience and the setting is so beautiful. My wife and I stayed 3 nights in a Bedouin tent and were very comfortable. It must be said though that given the price 52 JD per night, you are effectively camping in a tent with no power once the generator goes out and therefore the price does not reflect the level of accommodation.

The breakfasts were o.k and the best part was definitely baking local bread in the Tabun oven which was really good. The dinners at night were also a little disappointing as the first night they just gave us leftovers from the Petra Palace hotel rather than an authentic experience. They said they only would do a traditional meal if there were 8 or more people eating.

The guys working there are very friendly and were attentive to our needs.

The location is a little difficult without a car and you will have to do some good bargaining with local taxi drivers. However I had no problems with the location as the further away from Wadi Musa you go the more beautiful and peaceful the scenery gets.

Overall we enjoyed our stay very much, we only thought it was on the expensive side of camping!

Had no idea what to expect, had never done anything like this before. Was AMAZING!! Had the cutest tent for four of us girls and tent was 100% waterproof and with full on beds. Good price! Turned up in the afternoon and two of the staff took us for a walk up the rocks around to watch the sunset. Came down for dinner, campfire and the staff even entertained us all night with a few drinks and good Middle Eastern music and dancing. Very accommodating. Loved how the facilities (shower/toilets etc.) were above my expectations for a camping experience swell. Hot water too! I recommend to all :)

Room Tip: Get the luxury tent. Not expensive at all but is a cool option!

Really cool experience, great camp and setting. Awesome food and great service. A little cold at night, but they give you extra blankets - so bundle them on top of yourselves. Awesome to sit around the fire at the end of the day sharing a cup of tea with everyone. Short drive to Petra, so its a fantastic location, and relatively good value for money.
