This is down in the ancient ruins of Petra and the fact that you can stop and refresh without going back up into town is a real plus. We ate with a group at a large buffet which was good and had great options for vegetarians. The purchased non-alcoholic drinks were suprisingly expensive...$7.00 for a cup of fresh lemonade...Location and convenience were its best attributes.

Don't miss it ! After Colonnaded Street and before the donkey parking ! lol

The basin restaurant is part of the Crown Plaza group with a very good service and price.

The place to go before you climb to the Monastery .... or on your way back !

Ok, at least they have real beer, which is rare in this area. but the buffet at 17JD ++ (which means they add tax and service charge, another whooping 26%) you come out at 45USD per person just for lunch and that does not include drinks. The setting is nice though and the service is adequate. There is only one cheaper option in the center of Petra.

We paid 17JD each for the all you can eat buffet. Whilst there was pleanty of choice for the food, it just did not seem to be worth paying that much money. The salad buffet was good and planty of hot dishes to choose from, yet the desserts were not very appetising looking. I advise taking a picnic into Petra for the day and maybe treating yourself to an ice-cream or cold drink at one of the smaller coffee tents at the end of your day.
