This hotel is truly at the gates of Petra. The location is reason alone to book this hotel. The Cave bar and terrace are nice and beverages are cold. The music inside the cave bar was a little too loud (even in the late afternoon) to allow for anyone sitting at the same table to hear each other speak but there are some tables on the outside terrace under shade. Rooms are spacious and adequate but A/C was not very powerful. The bathrooms are bit dated but clean. Buffet dinner was just "OK." Note that there is no pool which might be something to enjoy after spending the day in the heat at Petra. The staff was very kind and helpful. If you are looking for a decent, clean and convenient hotel for a night then this is perfect.

This was a great location. It is literally right at the gate to Petra.

The restaurant was lacking a bit. The food is "fine". For the price, you are better to explore and find dinner elsewhere.

As with many places in Jordan, I found the service at the breakfast buffet to be poor. They stick you at a tiny table, do not clear the dishes and you have to hunt/beg for coffee/tea. There seems to be an abundance of staff, but care for guests does not seem to be their priority. There was one waitress killing herself to stay on top of 50+ guests while other staff just lulled around and made sure the bar was stocked at 6:30am or read the newspaper. It was really odd to see. Everyone is in a rush to get to Petra as early as possible and the service makes this stressful.

We were situated in the older part of the hotel which had HUGE rooms and that was great for travelling with our family, but there were some significant problems with water backing up through the drain in the floor and sewer smell.

Room Tip: Try staying in the newer part of the hotel if you can.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel, especially if you want to hit Petra early, as soon as it opens. It's right next to the entrance and ticket booths.
The service is decent.
However, there is only one buffet restaurant, unless you want to brave the loud, blasting music from the Cave Bar that will make your ears hurt.
The a/c doesn't really work properly at night (can make for a hot night's sleep) but I found this to be the case for many hotels in Egypt & Jordan.

Room Tip: Ask for one that is not above the Cave Bar unless heavy bass loud music helps you sleep.

Choosing this hotel, will give you a plus on your Petra daily tour. The incredible location at the very entrance of Petra, puts it in the high level. After an exhausting day visiting Petra you will beg for a good shower and some rest. Petra Guest Hotel, gives you all this, plus a nice decoration, a good buffet and breakfast, and a kind staff very helpful. The only matter is internet, connection is not good in Jordan. We did also Petra by night (a candle spectacle that leads you to Al Kazneh, very impressive, that goes only three days a week, a nightly trip hugged by a stary sky and silent ambience walking through he gorges) and we could get the entrance there, also. The Cave Bar is astonishing, you will feel yourself merged in a nabatean cave, with all the glamour you could imagine. Jordan people are very kind and helpful, being there was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

Room Tip: Rooms are very silent.

This hotel was literally located above the entry gate into Petra. Couldn't have asked for a better location, since there isn't the need for a long walk into town (generally uphill) or taxis. The facility itself is beautiful, with a set of large rooms perched on a large rock face.

The Cave Bar, built from an old tomb carved into the rock face, provides a wonderful place to chill and chat.

If we ever return to Petra, we're sure to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the large rooms on the rock face to the right of the main lobby building.

I loved this hotel, when our guide said we were staying in a Petra guest house i thought little dingy place. But NO its the Crown Plaza hotel called Guest House. It was a great place and i stayed in the outer part of the hotel up on the rocks with a great lookout to the village area. It had a bar that was part of a cave of Petra and very nice. The rooms were comfortable and clean and well furnished. It was so much more than a Guest House. I wish i had been there longer. The breakfast buffet was very good an i can recommend the pancakes. Great place as it was right next to the Petra site as well.

I chose to stay at the guest house because of its location, and in that area, the "hotel" did not disappoint. There were a few oddities however, including a door that appeared to lock but didn't, a terribly smelly drain, and the motel-like feel. On the plus side, the breakfast buffet was very filling, the bed was comfortable, and the guest house is the first hotel you arrive at upon exiting the Siq, which is a most-welcome site after 8 hours of hiking all over Petra. On the down side, we found out the morning of our departure that our door had never actually locked as an unlucky guest at the hotel happened to walk right in (thinking it was his room) after he had used HIS room key! We also kept the drain in the shower stopped-up as the smell emanating from it was terribly potent. Finally, in spite of the price, I definitely felt like I was staying in a motel. Though as DebArch mentioned in her review, the draw of Wadi Musa is Petra and you spend very little time actually in your room.
